Attention Shoppers: Dodge Viper now eligible for employee pricing

Cerberus may be trying to offload Viper, but not before it gives over a million Americans the opportunity to pick one up at discounted prices. Until now the Viper remained outside Chrysler's Employee Purchase and Certain Designated Individuals discount program, but that's about to change as the supercar joins the list of eligible vehicles.
While Chrysler employs over 130,000 people, we doubt many of them, especially in this economic climate, will have the means or motivation to pick up the gas-guzzling V10 muscle car. However, an arrangement between Chrysler and Wal-Mart extends the benefits program to employees of the mega-retail chain, and with over 1.2 million employees, we're sure there are a few who'll take Chrysler up on its offer. Don't go rushing to pick up an ACR, however, as the track-focused model remains outside the program.

I'm sure minimum wage Wal-Mart employees will be lining up for the deal of the century...

I worked for Wal-Mart once!
Once!

Wow. Did the ABGreen bloggers get a hall pass to post here today or something?
To call the Viper a gas-guzzling 'muscle car' is absolutely retarded. Yeah, a 22mpg (highway) car that can lap the 'Ring in 7:22.1 (ACR, #1 on the chart.) is a muscle car?
Either you are biased beyond belief, flat out retarded, or have absolutely no idea what the term 'muscle car' means. All of which should be enough to revoke the hall pass and send you back to ABGreen.

I'd like to see any Viper owner bold enough to claim they have actually seen 22mpg, let alone 15. My 130-hp Protege5 gets little over 30mpg real-world highway, and you're telling me a motor almost 4 times the size of this is going to get 22? Remember that Top Gear test where they took all the supercars around the test course on a gallon of fuel? I'm pretty sure the winner was the Audi R8 (4.2L V8) with something like 8 miles.

@akboss
He did say highway not race track... you have to remember, the viper engine can spin at less than 1,000RPM to keep the going 60-70MPH while your 130HP whatever has to work really hard to keep your fat ass at highway speeds.
Given, that all changes once you touch the throttle... but then you wont care or remember what MPG is :)

Having the use of 2003 Viper for 4months last year, 23-24mpg on the hwy is easily obtainable. 70mph in 6th gear and just cruise. Easy starts, let it do the 1 to 4th gear swap, get on the hwy, right to 6th and relax.
But its tough NOT to cannonball off every single on-ramp :D

I'd apply for walmart today if the ACR was included.

Obviously, it's not too hard to imagine that the new Viper and ZR1 may well be the Dusenberg's of the future. But beyond that, further ironys abound: the Dussie, the Viper and the ZR1 are all over-the-top American cars, available just before a huge global financial collapse. and (with the Viper and the Corvette) made by manufacturers who shortly may no longer exist.

I saw a Viper driving home the other day that looked exactly like the one on that photo, only it was a coupe, not the roadster. Man that's one hot looking car.

Please tell me how "millions" or even 130K will have the opportunity when Chrysler barely builds and sells 1,000 Vipers per year?

Who photoshopped those nasty black stripes on that pretty green Viper?

That's odd, since when has the Viper ever been in a poor or working class person's budget anyway? I think it is appropriate to call the Viper a Muscle car.
