Eric Bana filming documentary about his car

Eric Bana is the man. Don't believe us? Go watch Black Hawk Down. Unbeknownst to us, Bana also happens to be one of those world famous actors who has a passion for cars and racing. The lead of such films as Hulk, Troy and Munich is working on his directorial debut that just happens to star his own personal car: an old Australian-market Ford XB GT coupe. The film is a documentary called Love the Beast and isn't just about cars, but rather the passion people have for their hobbies. Bana's passions just happen to be racing and restoring old cars, so they get a staring role. Other celebs such as Jay Leno, Dr. Phil and Jeremy Clarkson reportedly make cameos in the film to help Bana make his point, which we suppose is that passion, passion for anything, is important in our lives. Unfortunately, we don't have any details on the documentary's release date yet as its IMDB listing is lacking in detail and Bana only made first mention of the film at this past weekend's Bathurst 1000 race.
UPDATE: Trailer for Love the Beast added after the jump.

This is not the first movie by car enthusiasts about their hobby. Rowan Atkinson's "The Driven Man" comes to mind.
In that movie, Rowan Atkinson describes how he fell in love with cars, what it is about cars that he loves, and why some cars deserve more love than others. It's a bit dated, but well worth a watch.

Bummer, Rowan's film is out of print and only available on VHS...even in the U.K. according to Amazon.com. Thought it would be worth a look until Bana's film comes out.
(on a side note, Amazon U.K. customers only have to 5 GBP worth of items, or $8.65 U.S., for free shipping -- damn.)
