Click above to enlarge and for more teaser images of the 2010 Ford Mustang

The painfully slow undressing of the 2010 Mustang continues today with a clear shot of the car's new shifter. Specifically, we can see that a five-speed stick is still standard-fare for the pony car from Ford, though its closest competitors, namely the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro, are equipped with six row-for-yourself ratios. On the positive side, the gear knob looks very high class and appears hewn from aluminum. Judging from the last teaser, the matte aluminized finish is carried out through much of the GT's interior, from the shifter to the steering wheel and dash. There are five more teaser images to be revealed before the 'Stang's final reveal at the LA Auto Show, where we'll be on hand to bring you the goods in living color. For now, all of Ford's early teasers can be seen in our gallery below.

Camaro likes to expose itself at any opportunity and the new mustang is shy.

      WTF? a 5-Speed.
Ford can tease all it wants but they really need to use a modern v-6 in its base car to compete with the Camaro not to mention an independent rear suspension.

Patrick--wrong, they didnt go back to the drawing board and re tool the 4.6 Liter. This motor is totally different from the 4.6, yet still modular and was in development alongside the Hurricane which will now see duty only in the trucks.

      Ahahaha.

The showing of Mustang shots is now going from "irritating" to laughable.

What about all those Mustang buyers who go for the slushbox? C'mon Ford! Don't leave those buyers hangin'! Show 'em the automatic transmission you're going to give them.

Gabagool: Sorry for being an ass. I shouldn't have acted up.

@Yaroukh: I probably won't be posting more vitriol about the Stang teasers. The other ones didn't bug me, but there's something about this one that irritates.

I think it's because I want to see what the automatic looks like. Where's the slushbox-buyer's teaser, Ford? Us non-car guys want our look at what we would be buying!

        ...Sorry, bad joke.

Anyway, with regards to the pictures: There may be five more, but only a little more than a month before the show. Wait's almost up.

OMFG NO MORE TEASER PICS!! AAARRGH!!

but +1 to the dude who asked about the sixth gear. in a day and age when german and japanese companies make cars with like, seventeen gears, five gears really seems too... small-penis-y.

Glad to see they incorporated the Bullitt's shifter into the standard GT. I'm really anxiously awaiting the next Bullitt mustang. That will be an awesome car if it's just the slightest improvement over the current one.

I think Fords going to pull what it did with the Escape redesign and the following year will get powertrain upgrades. imo

Hey Ford, how about teasing us with something substantive such as pics of an independent rear suspension?

Guess I'll have to buy the Hyundai Genesis coupe if I want technological refinement!

"Guess I'll have to buy the Hyundai Genesis coupe if I want technological refinement!"

And as you'll be watching the rear end of the Mustang Pulling away from you! The Hyundai may make 300HP but it will fall far short of the Specific Torque output the Ford 4.6L makes, 320 or 330lbft depending on tune.

      Ok, looks good, next image.

that tall lettering still doesnt look good 30 yrs later. give up the ghost. Retro looks with modern ergonomics are really the way to go.

      Looks good.

This is not the same as one of the spy shots

I think you're confusing "spy photos" with "production photos".
I'm not confusing spy shots and production.
My point is the evolution of the two photos.
