SEMA Preview: MOPAR ready to Ram Las Vegas with four concept trucks

Click above for high-res gallery of all four Dodge Ram truck concepts
In addition to the Dodge Challenger SRT10 Concept, the Chrysler Group will also be bringing four Ram truck concepts to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas early next month, all tuned by its in-house Mopar Underground division. The first is the bright yellow Dodge Ram TRXtreme, which takes a quad-cab Ram with the TRX off-road package and adds an extra 4.5 inches of ground clearance, 20-inch Mopar wheels wearing BFG 73X12.50 series tires, fender flares, a tube step and box rail. The steel hood features cooling louvers and the grille is extra large, so the Ram's V8 should have no problem expelling excess heat while being worked.

The second concept is the Dodge Ram R/T, which is based on the '09 Ram Sport and said to be inspired by the Dodge Challenger. It's got a cold-air intake and Mopar dual exhaust system, a concept Mopar air suspension system that keeps it inches off the ground, 22-inch Mopar wheels, a full body kit, B5 Blue paint job and a Mopar tonneau cover with integrated rear spoiler.

Next up is the Ram Sportsman with its "blowing leaves" camouflage paint job. This is the outdoorsy concept truck with a two-inch lift kit, 20-inch wheels wearing 33-inch tires, a special bed rail system to organize all the your outdoor gear and, of course, the Ram's new RamBox storage sysem.

Finally we have the Dodge Ram Mopar Street Package. It features a special Mopar Underbround body kit with side sill extensions and a chin spoiler, a slight drop in ride height, 22-inch Mopar wheels and a dual-snorkel hood.
PRESS RELEASE
Dodge Ram TRXtreme
The 2009 Dodge Ram TRXtreme plays up the off-road capabilities of the 2009 Ram TRX package. Starting life with a quad cab TRX-4 off-road truck, it was easy to upgrade this truck to a serious off-road machine. Mopar Underground design team added 4.5-inches of extra ground clearance using a Mopar lift kit. This made room for Mopar polished and forged 20-inch wheels wrapped in knurly BFG 37X12.50's. The paint is a bright yellow and mineral grey two-tone incorporating a mud splash theme. A set of Mopar wheel flares, a wheel-to-wheel Mopar tube step and a box rail are painted to match the theme. Rearward visibility comes from the Mopar aftermarket telescoping mirrors, which extend when needed. The one-off steel hood with cooling louvers and larger grille take care of any heat issues that may arise under severe use. A bed accessory system from Mopar holds off-road gear and a Mopar tuned dual exhaust system gives an impressive growl. Interior features include a Mopar navigation system, DVD headrests and Mopar leather seats by Katzkin.
Dodge Ram R/T
The Dodge Ram R/T starts off with a 2009 Ram Sport with a 380-horsepower, 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8, a 4.10 gear and a high stall converter, which rockets the truck to impressive times. With this blank canvas, Mopar Underground created a Dodge Challenger-inspired version of the Dodge Ram. On the performance side, a Mopar cold-air intake kit to keep the engine breathing and a Mopar dual exhaust system with a performance rumble. The exterior is painted classic B5 blue with a Mopar dual-snorkel aluminum hood and carbon fiber accent stripes. Dropped chassis is possible with a concept Mopar air suspension kit. The look is made more evident by the body kit, consisting of sill and box pieces, finished up with a chin spoiler. For wheels, concept Mopar 22-inch Alcoas wrapped in 285/45R22s in front and 305/40R22s in the rear. A Mopar hard tonneau cover and a unique integrated spoiler are combined with the Mopar bed mat showing an ambient under-rail LED lighting system. The interior features Katzkin leather seats with body color stitching to match the instrument panel and steering wheel. A set of Mopar Pedals are installed, adding to the performance look and capability
Dodge Ram Sportsman
The most noticeable aspect of the 2009 Dodge Ram Sportsman is the unique blowing-leaves paint scheme inspired by a new interpretation of traditional camouflage designed by Mopar Underground. The paint is protected by a set of accent Mopar wheel flares and running boards with an integrated step. The Sportsman features Dodge's exclusive RamBox storage system, filled with plenty of outdoor gear, and the bed rail system holds a cargo rack for additional cargo capacity. The Mopar telescoping trailer tow mirrors aid in rear visibility and match the color theme. The vehicle gets the right stance and added capability with a Mopar two-inch lift kit supported by Mopar polished and forged 20-inch wheels with 33-inch tires. You'll never get lost with the Mopar navigation unit, but if you do you will be able to enjoy SIRIUS® Satellite TV or movies on the Mopar headrest DVD system. Sit back and relax in the perforated leather Mopar seats by Katzkin, embroidered with the Sportsman logo. The steering wheel and door pulls have been trimmed to match, and the Mopar ambient lighting system gives a unique glow to the interior.
Dodge Ram Mopar Street Package
Using a 2008 Dodge Ram Sport, the exterior blackberry paint really plays up the Dodge Ram Mopar Street Package. This Mopar Underground concept truck features a Mopar body kit consisting of sill extensions and a chin-spoiler. A slight Mopar body drop/leveling kit and Mopar concept 22-inch polished Alcoa forged wheels add to the appearance. A Mopar high-style hard tonneau cover blends with the truck. To add to the aggressive look, the Mopar all-aluminum dual-snorkel hood sits over the 390-horsepower HEMI® V-8, which is backed with a Mopar tuned dual-exhaust. The theme is continued in the interior with Mopar ambient lighting. Mopar suede and leather seats trimmed with premium piping and stitching add to the high-end feel of the truck. The steering wheel and door pulls are trimmed to match for a complete package. Entertainment is delivered via a Mopar DVD headrest system and a Mopar-kicker audio system that will blow you away. The bed is also dressed with a Mopar bed rug and under-rail accent LED lighting.

This is a mean looking machine. why worry about big trucks, just like the hybrid technology in the escalade, a similar system will double the fuel efficiency on the streets where most of this animals are seen. instead of killing a truck, make it fuel efficient.

I actually totaly agree, I think carmakers should make all truck and suvs more efficient, 5-6 MPGs would have made the current situation much more easier to live with. But what bothers me is the fact that Big 3 do not offer a single good small car. Focus, Cobal and ------- are trash compared to Civic and Corolla.
-------- stands for Chryslers small car, which is either PT Cruiser or Caliber, both are basically trucks and if I am not mistaken are classified so by EPA.

Focus and Cobalt do have redeeming qualities compared to their competition.
In the Focus's case you have good vehicle dynamics and the Sync system, which is pretty trick.
The Cobalt is the oldest compact on the market. When it came out it was better than the Corolla and Civic it competed with in terms of power, and interior quality. It now lags in design and quality simply because the competition has released new compacts that improved on previous ones. It does have some bright spots though. 150hp and 37mpg is class leading. The 2.2L ecotec is torquey and drives more like a small V6 than a revvy Honda 4-cyl. The Cobalt SS is simply astounding. Great seats, 260hp, 30mpg, manual trans, etc. Check out the latest C&D Lightning Lap. The Cobalt SS beat the Lotus SC, G37, 425hp Challenger SRT8, 300+hp STi, Evo MR, 135i, etc around the VIR track. The performance is simply stunning for a $22k vehicle.

Nice trucks! All 4 of them! Chevy and Ford have some real competition on their hands, because the 2009 Ram is awesome!
Arturo, thanks for sticking up for trucks and pointing out that the SMART thing to do is make them more fuel efficient, NOT to kill them and force stupid, tiny, ugly little joke econocars down the throats of people who don't want that garbage.
To all you truck and big vehicle haters, all I have to say is grow the you know what up and take your obsession for tiny joke cars to a site that caters to them.

Some people are missing the fact that some of us have trucks for their utility. When gas prices rose beyond what I wanted to pay, I parked the truck and was lucky enough to puchase an inexpensive used Honda for work travel. I can not imagine letting the truck go altogether and losing the advantages. And so far the used Honda has paid for itself in fuel savings over the truck. That being said, yes, please make all trucks more fuel efficient...especially since they all do not have to tow 11,000 lbs.

Good thing to know Detroit is looking for $25 billion in bailout "loans" so they can continue to waste it on truck concepts that help the inadequately endowed feel good about themselves rather than invest it into competent vehicle platforms that will benefit the buyer and the nation both.

the amount of money spent on these concepts is relatively small! They get the trucks and mopar stuff for basically nothing. These trucks give a team of guys some work for a couple months.
The finished product is basically an advertisement for dodge, so they recoup the money spent. Another bonus is that WE get to enjoy the end result!
BTW< they are working on new technology

The time of 'bigger is better' is over. The lifted yellow Ram just reinforce the impression some have: "Trucks are for rednecks".
And oh wow, the new ram has better mileage...1mpg to be correct. What an amazing achievement !
