For the 2009 model year, Mitsubishi in Japan has tweaked the Evolution with a slightly revised instrument cluster and center console, along with offering a GSR Premium model that pulls all the right kit from the range-topping MR model.
Included in the package is a set of 18-inch BBS wheels, color-matched fender scoops, fog lamps and Bilstein shocks, while inside a pair of leather swathed Recaros and a Rockford Fosgate sat-nav audio system with nine speakers rounds out the Premium model.
Prices for the GSR Premium are set at 4,798,500 with the five-speed manual, while the Twin-Clutch SST model will set our friends across the Pacific back 5,050,000 yen.

Great. That's just how I would want one. All the MR goodies with the standrad 5 speed manual. Hopefully they'll do this stateside by the time I'm ready to add an X to my collection.

what else is in your collection?

Collection being foward thinking. I have a Evo VIII and an Eclipse GS-T.

Man Mitsu is hitting a Home Run after a Home Run with this Evo.
They now need to do the same with Galant, which is pretty bad.

Does this one get trounced by a Cobalt SS Turbo around VIR too?
LMAO.

Now let them run the same test during rainy or better yet, snowy day :P One thing about Evo X is it's weight, on a fairly easy track with a lot of straights Cobalt SS will keep up but throw some curves into the mix and it has no chance. Besides, if you actually read the article, it was mentioned that Evo X was test drivers favorite car due to it's control. It's a lot easier to add more HP than to modify chassis.

Trounced? When diid that happen? I thought I read somwehere the Cobalt kept up with but still barely lost. I also read the engineers who built the SS kept an Evo VIII around as a benchmark car, I'm guessing lots of companies do.
Evos were made to be modded. Once Ralliart UK, HKS, or JUN gets a hold of one they become record setters, and I doubt any amount of mods thrown at a FF car, albeit a very good one, will allow it to keep up.

I think he's talking about the Car and Driver test where it beat out the Evo MR.
At least thats from memory...not sure.

The Cobalt SS has it beat.... for half the price. C&D even said it has better handling than the EVO.

@Torrent, here is the article, please point out to me where did they mentioned Cobalt being a better handling car than the EVO???

Nowhere to be found, lacking basic reading comprehension skills, huh? :P They did definitely notice Evo X handling... "...dissecting VIR’s technical sections with surgical precision and providing absolute confidence in the uphill esses".

I agree and would add:
AWD > FWD any day
spdracerut 2:13PM (10/14/2008)
Hopefully they added the 2-piece brake rotors from the MR too.

Cobalt = no class

Its all the same.

Nice. Bring it on over Mitsu! There is nothing bad about the Galant.

But the problem is, there's nothing really great about the Galant either. It needs some Evo DNA to make it special instead of being a bad Altima/Accord clone. This is as refined as I ever want to see an Evo get. If they truly want to build a BMW fighter, they should do it with the Galant.

i wish they would straighten out the tail lights, why the odd angle?

people need to admit that the cobalt ss is a very nice performing car and stop making excuses.
with that said, i would still choose evo X over cobalt any day. i am done with FWD cars..

I do believe the artical you're referring to was written in C and D's September or October issue. They frequently sad that the interior to the cobalt was bland and cheap feeling, and that the only good thing was the handling (for a FWD, which means, that they only meant it being compared to another FWD, not an AWD, so the statement of ''good handling'' is null-in-void when compared to that of a Lancer or Evo'). And also, in the comparison, cars were rated on their biased ''fun factor.''
