Ford releases full dash pic of 2010 Mustang

Whether you like it or not, Ford is revealing the 2010 Mustang nice and slow. So far we've got fairly clear shots of the wheel, seats, rear deck lid badge, front end, and steering wheel. The latest photo to be released shows a clear, full front view of the dash, and we have to say that we like what we see. Like the new Pony badge, Ford has given the interior an edgier look with rectangular center air vents and more futuristic looking gauges. There are still six images yet to be unveiled, and we're hoping for a decent shot underneath the hood or of the rear fender soon. Of course, the car will be officially introduced at the LA Auto Show in November, and we'll be there to bring you all the photos and details.

Very nice. The steering wheel reminds me of my '66. Seats look nice also.

*facepalm*

I really dont like the look of the steering wheel. Look at the circle in the middle.
BoxerFanatic 2:12PM (10/08/2008)
Not bad. Very retro... still.
But why is one gauge bigger than the other? The left one is obviously larger, especially compared to the top edge of the center gauge box.

I think it's called perspective.

LOL... the stupidity level around here never ceases to amaze me.

@Torrent, yeah but if you look at the bezel, the thickness around the gauges are different. Could be the pic, but I definitely see what he's talkin' about.
Mike 2:44PM (10/08/2008)
The gauge isn't bigger and it's not the perspective.
My '08 is the same way, the center of the dash is slightly higher and slopes down towards the left and right sides of the car. There is an actual variance in the thickness of the trim between the top of the tach and the dash pad and the top of the speedo and the dash pad.
dmac 2:47PM (10/08/2008)
It's definitely bigger. Look at picture 7 of 9.
chopper 3:52PM (10/08/2008)
The dash is slightly sloped... and the shot is taken at an angle... thus... perspective.
A child would understand this.

Check pic 7, people. The guage on the left is definitely larger. There's a straight line that comes off the top of the circle that is the right gauge. When it hits the circle that is the left guage, it does NOT hit the top, therefore that circle is larger.
BoxerFanatic 3:49PM (10/08/2008)
Look at the line across the top of the center guage box, between the two round gauges.
The right side, the top line comes right to the top of the round gauge.
The left side, the top line is partially obscured by the steering wheel, but you can clearly see the top of the left round gauge, and the top line doesn't meet it, it meets the gauge at about 1-o'clock.
The top line looks horizontal the rest of the dash, and it would be stupid for it not to be horizontal. If it is horizontal, but meets the right and left gauges differently, they MUST be different sizes.
BoxerFanatic 3:56PM (10/08/2008)
Actually, I must amend my observation.
The round gauges seem to be directly horizontal from each other, center to center.
But the dash pad is much closer to the top of the left round gauge than the right round gauge. the whole steering wheel thickness goes between the right gauge and the dash pad, the left side is not nearly that far between them.
So the dash pad does appear to have a center crowned shape, (higher in the center than the ends, ignoring the divot in the center)
so, it is possible that the horizontal line across the top of the gauge cluster, between the two round gauges, may not be horizontal, after all, but sloping downward to the left, parallel to the dash pad, not square to the gauges.
That, however is about as odd looking as having one round gauge larger than the other, though. it is still a lack of symmetry, on a gauge cluster that really is otherwise trying to be symmetrical.
The Luigiian 3:56PM (10/08/2008)
@300Kid: No it's not. The gauge on the left is higher than the gauge on the right so that the driver can see it over the turning signal stalk, but it is not larger.
Tagg 4:21PM (10/08/2008)
I see what you're saying but I think its just the angle. The shape of the gauge itself looks off when you look at the curve through the steering wheel. It looks as if the line of the gauge inside the steering wheel do not match the line out side of the wheel.
I really don't think they would make one gauge bigger in than the other considering how symetrical the rest of the interior is.

The one thing that bothers me is that this is the GT- and not the V6. I'm afraid the V6 will be watered down.

Well, the V6 is watered down by definition.
Tagg 4:19PM (10/08/2008)
The V6 will be watered down but on the current model there is a option to get the same interior as the GT on the V6. So I doubt they will change that option because its one of the more popular ones.
Nellydesign 4:50PM (10/08/2008)
You can indeed get the same interior options on the V6 that you get in the GT. And the entire IP is soft. Like cushy soft, not just "kinda" soft.
