Subaru Impreza WRX STI Takumi concept hints at future Spec-C

Our Parisian friends over at LeBlogAuto were on hand at the Motorsport Japan 2008 event in Tokyo this past weekend, where FHI unveiled an Impreza-based "concept" dubbed the Subaru WRX STI Takumi.
Featuring upgraded springs and shocks, revised suspension bits, lightweight 12-spoke wheels, undisclosed engine tweaks and a slightly reworked exterior, the Takumi foretells the future of the rumored Spec-C variant, due to hit the market sometime next year.
Subaru execs at the show remained mum on

I'll be interested in Impreza-based cars when they put red and orange tail light assemblies on them.

Takumi in title, Takuma in the article.
So which is it? Initial D inspired WRX (which would be Bunta, not Takumi), or mistype?

Its "Takumi" as in "匠". Which is the Japanese character for "master". For Japanese automobile production, senior engineers and productions workers are given titles of "takumi"/masters, and are used to make hand-made special vehicles that require special expertise. Subaru likely wants to connect the "tuned by STi" and wants to appeal the fact that the car is tuned by hand, and perhaps the driver should have a master hand in their skills.
Absolutely NOTHING to do with Initial D. For reference, the Takumi in that series is spelled "拓海".

Takumi did drive Bunta's WRX for a while, to deliver tofu, if you recall. Of course that was when the Impreza was a good looking car. And had two doors.

should be called the Bunta edition, since he actually owns the subbie in the anime.

loose the damn clear tail lights. Those things looked dumb when lexus used them 5 years ago and they look even worse now. Get toyota out of your design room subaru. I have never seen a toyota that I liked and I am now not seeing any subarus I like either.
