We have an idea of what the next Mazda3 will look like based on some trademark renderings that Mazda supplied the European Union Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market; basically what they amount to are patent drawings. Based on these very rough outlines, somebody named Pascal Boissé from Auto-Motive D&C has created a rendering that gives us a slightly better idea of what the new compact car will look like. The results are a bit mixed, with the fenders and greenhouse meeting our expectations, but that happy-go-lucky front end may be a bit off. Recent spy shots don't show the snout protruding out quite that far. We may see character lines along the door's bottom edge, leading up to the rear arches as the rendering clearly shows. What we know for sure is that Mazda has been getting more expressive with its styling, as the revised 6 and recent concepts prove. We'll see the Mazda3 in person at the upcoming LA Auto Show and here's hoping that it's a bit more refined than the rendering above.

The front should look more like the new 6, then it's sold. I just hope they offer a sedan speed model in 2010. If so, I'll either keep my current 3 Sedan, or trade it in.

Don't go getting too upset, this is just a rendering which is clearly based on the current Mazda3, those patent drawings show the final execution to be much cleaner and more resolved.

Have faith and remember not to lend to much dredence to anything you see before the official reveal.

Based on the current Mazdaspeed 3, I might point out..... look at the rims and prominent rear spoiler. Definitely a MS3 they started on. But damn, this thing looks way way worse than the current 3. I really hope it looks more like a baby 6. Yikes. But given mazda's current design direction, I think they missed badly on the front end detail. It looks nothing like the Nagare or the Furai. The 6 looks very influenced by those concepts. I think this will too.

Oh my god that is uglier than the STI! The rendered speculations of the STI were much better looking than the actual model and the actual model of the mazda3 looks much better than this beast.

Wait till the production version is shown. Till then this is just a rendering. The final product may be far better looking.

Hey fellow bloggers... this is a RENDERED SPECULATION!! SO don't fret, I am sure Mazda will not produce a car with such a hideous front end.

That's very similar to Toyota. Let's hope Mazda maintains their dignity.

      Gross.

Plus, the rear doors' window doesn't have that ugly triangle.
actually if you check the patent filing you will see that it will have that crappy triangle window. This speculation was based on the patent filing and some details do imitate it. I really really hopt that the final looks better than the patent filing. It will most certainly look better than this mess.
here are those Patent Images everyone keeps talking about

"Mazda has been getting more expressive with its styling"... that is purely subjective. And I for one disagree with Mazda's new styling direction. The proportions of the RX8 front end just aren't pleasing, and unfortunately, that's the cue they chose to carry on the new 6 which looks equally, and oddly, disproportional.

      Jesus that's ugly.
