Radio Shack gets exclusive right to sell Mio Knight Rider GPS

The Mio Knight Rider GPS is coming soon to a store near you, as long as that retailer is a Radio Shack. The tech store and Mio struck an exclusive deal for the $279 navigation system, which features the original voice of KITT, William Daniels. We were able to try out the Knight Rider GPS when we had KITT in the Autoblog Garage, and it scored some extra novelty points while also working well as your standard, run of the mill nav system. Anyone who went for a ride in our KITT Shelby GT500KR tester was almost as interested in the talking nav system as the car itself. It's a little disappointing, however, that you can only get one at Radio Shack, though the sub-$300 price tag makes it all better.

Wow if Radio Shack carries it, it must be a really really high quality device, just like that rattle trap Mustang on the show.

Radio Shack = the poor man's Sharper Image. Sadly, RS will be suffering the same fate soon.
They better advertise this thing on TV and web to generate some traffic into their shacks.

Except that RS actually has useful stuff.

exclusive right? I'm guessing its more that Best Buy and Circuit City didnt care to participate.

Hmmm... thats odd, I just saw it on Best Buy's website(http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8943806&st=knight+rider&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1217633560582) , also called my local Fry's and they say they would be getting some on line shortly and in store towards the end of October. Maybe its only an exclusive if there isn't another retailer around.

Let's hope this thing doesn't suck as bad as the show itself.

I played with on of these at the "The Source by Circuit City" inside of Limeridge mall in Hamilton, Ontario a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the power connector wasn't working very well and it kept shutting off every minute or so, but the device itself felt very clunky to me. Really cheap plastic, unlike the Garmins, but the voice was cool however....

Im a geek and do not have a GPS. Unless your a total moron, or in a strange area, most of these GPS are a joke. Unless someone is tracking you.

You're not a real geek then, just paranoid.

Oh, I got the toys and gadgets, just not one that tells me where the nearest McDonalds is. I don't know anyone dumb enough to NEED a gps.

I got mine at Best Buy online, and I have seen it on Amazon. I have it and i love it. Navtones.com does cool celebrity voices and I find it hard to give up Mr. T and Kim Cattrall, but Navtones.com is powering the Knight Rider GPS and I just had to have it
