Lamborghini concept may be named Estoque, not Urus

While we've pretty much had it up to our Hans device with the speculation surrounding Lamborghini's Paris surprise, another salient detail has emerged about the rumored front-engined, four-door sedan due to be unveiled on Thursday at the Paris Motor Show.
Previous reports about the Lamborghini concept wearing a Urus badge are thankfully bunk (who wants to drive a supercar named after a large bovine?) and World Car Fans has dropped the name Estoque (without citing any sources), which according to Encyclopedia Brittanica is a small blade that delivers the death blow to a bull at the end of a stadium fight. We're still more than a few days away from the official reveal, but in the meantime, enjoy the gallery of teasers below, along with the image above created by LamboPower member a007api.

I was wondering what the bleep estorque means? Hmm I don't know if any rapper gonna feature this in their lyrics? Estorque...snd kinda lame if you ask me. And I don't like how the rear looks.

touche, sire, touche!
must say tho, estoque is a fierce name... so will this slay all murcielagoes and gallardoes, plural spelling notwithstanding?
AC0 4:20PM (9/26/2008)
Estoque ryhmes with Glock, so i don't think the rappers will have problem.
Farris 4:48PM (9/26/2008)
AC0 - I would guess it's pronounced more like "Es-toe-kay," seeing as how it's Italian.
But hey, Gallardo got butchered into "Gah-lard-oh," so anything can happen.
Bungle 7:21PM (9/26/2008)
My money is still on "Lamborghini Chodeslapper."

'Estoque' (not estoRque) is a triangular or quadrangular section sword with non-cutting edges, in the likes of the floret or the stilleto, made esclusively for piercing attack (='estocada') - one example? The bullfighter sword...
CarlosMC 8:33PM (9/28/2008)
Btw, it comes from old french 'estoc' (tip of a sword).
And, for the record, AB, as you know, EVERY Lambo is named after bovideans (not bovines - ie, cows and oxes) since... (when?) - they've all been named after spanish bulls.
Wes 3:39PM (9/26/2008)
um.... aren't most of Lambo's cars named after large bovines? Specifically famous fighting bulls?
Murcielago, Reventon, etc....

That's what I thought - they were named for specific fighting bulls. I wouldn't expect, then, that they'd use the name of a type of knife, regardless of how its related...

why name a car after such a gruesome thing! look for your self. its so sad, it should be banned!

Think about it this way. Which would you choose:
1. Be a cow that is raised in a farm complex. Catching a glimpse of the outside world on your way to the slaughterhouse. Only to end up as a shrink wrapped "piece of meat".
OR
2. Be a bull that is raised out on an open field. When your day comes, you have the opportunity to overcome the one who wants to take your life. If you succeed, you live out your days and get to propagate your genes.
Which is more cruel to the animal?
Have YOU ever killed an animal for food?

Estoque: how fitting for a car that (in principle) delivers the death blow to the almighty bull we all know as Lamborghini.
A four door Lambo? Really, is there any millionaire out there that has to justify buying a Lamborghini to his/her spouse for practicality reasons???
Huh?
What next a mass market, unreliable Honda that sucks down 8 gallons per mile of premium petrol? Sounds promising...

Ooohh... Just like the Espada from the 60/70'ies?
Alex1217 4:02PM (9/26/2008)
I hope this is misinformation to hide the real name. For a company whose image is a raging bull, the last thing you want to name your vehicle after is a device used to kill bulls, especially if that device is a 4 door supersedan like the hideous Panamera.

Yeah that sounds totally sexy... not.
Most other Lamborghini names have sounded sexy like Countach, Diablo, etc.
Estoque is about as sexy as Jalpa.

For all the name haters, it is like, like murcielago and gallardo, SPANISH, not Italian. And because of that, it is pronounced es-TOH-kay with the stress on the next-to-last syllable. Not "es-tock" like "glock" not "es-toke" like "oak". It does sound elegant, actually.
That said...a four-door, front-engined Lambo? Oh Lawd, say it ain't so.
