Click above for a gallery of the Top Gear crew in the U.S.

The blokes from the real Top Gear are back in the States to test what us 'Mericans do best – big V8s, rear-wheel-drive and powerslides. Clarkson, Hammond and May flew into San Francisco on Wednesday and then made a B-line for Reno before heading south, reportedly to test the out a trio of American muscle at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

If you're just as obsessed as us, you don't have to look at the photos in the gallery to know who snatched the keys to a Corvette ZR1, Dodge Challenger and Cadillac CTS-V. But we'll spoil the (lack of) surprise for you anyway. Clarkson grabbed the 'Vette, Hammond is getting his retro kicks in the Challenger and May – the consummate stately sedan man – is piloting the CTS-V. Top Gear is rumored to be back on the air towards the end of October, and we're hoping this segment kicks off the next season. Thanks for the tip, Ben!

In Series 8 Episode 6 News Segment, Hammond and Clarkson had a fight over the definition of "Muscle Car." After the fight, and May mentioning the Daihatsu Copen, Hammond proclaimed that he was gonna buy a Dodge Challenger as soon as it came out.

Think he'd own up to his promise?

It's be cheaper than the one he owns now...

Damn, wish I would've known about this earlier. Would've gone out to Bonneville to watch.

      Sorry, not Mustangs, Previous Corvettes.

I guess you missed the episode about the Z06, and the fact that he OWNED a Ford GT for a very long time. Despite his numerous glitches with the car, and even selling it once, he went back and got another one.

He's not as biased as all you Top Gear haters make him out to be. Oftentimes he has valid points, other times he's just being Jeremy. I don't understand why my fellow countrymen are such sissies and can't take a little criticism before crawling behind their oversized flags and crying about it.

I wonder if these guys get recognized by the public in the US....propably not...

But I can't wait for the next season!!!

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I wish I was in Reno when they were around and I saw them. I woulda shouted out "yo Clarkson!" and something in slang about our settings and their cars whilst shaking my dreds. I def woulda been talked about on the show.

Since they are still shooting now i don't think this episode might be the season opener.

At least the CTS-V won't have to break a sweat with Captain Slow at the wheel.

I wonder what criticisms they're going to come up with about the CTS-V? I know the ZR1 will be the interior, the Challenger will be much the same, but with them the V is a wild card.
      We'll see.

Jeremy actually liked driving the previous CTS-V, but said the "cheapness" kept him from liking it. Since the new one has lost the cheap feeling of the previous CTS, maybe he will like this one, at least somewhat.

As long as he doesn't blow up the vette...again

Clarkson liked the previous CTS-V (being amazed that it was able to outrun an S4), the Z06, the Viper, and the Holden/Vauxhaull Monaro. His only real complaints with the Z06 were the on-road ride and such, which the ZR1 addresses.

I think Hammond will like the SRT8, he's a big fan of old Chargers.
