VIDEO: Camaro SS and Corvette ZR1 sparring on track

Click above to watch video after the jump
Video clips of the Corvette ZR1 strutting its stuff on track can be found virtually anywhere on the internet. But that doesn't mean we're tired of seeing the beast in action, particularly if the video happens to feature another new staple of GM's sporty lineup. The latest internet discovery is a grainy, sometimes barely audible, clip of the Chevrolet Camaro SS tackling the twisties with a guest appearance by a jet black ZR1. The video begins with the new muscle making a go on the course all alone. Then later, it appears trailing behind the infamous supercharged 'Vette.
From what we can see, the Camaro's chassis seems to be nicely tuned. The body roll is not substantial and the pony car takes a seat quickly when entering a turn with no floaty oscillations. Hopefully the short but sweet video tease is a direct indication of the production setup. Follow the jump to view things for yourself. Thanks for the tip, Xeyad!

Could you make the video a little more quiet please? I can almost hear it.

Throw in a CTS-V and that'll complete the picture. over 1500 "ponies" fighting for it...

Great cars from GM. But unforunately they came to the party late and they are in a bad finacial situation to produce these cars. Sure the Camero looks awesome, but this should have been out in early 2000 to compete with the Stang'. The ZR1 is a great example of American autobobile bargins but its outshined (price for performance) by its less expensive GT-R competitor.
The CTS-V is interesting, but this isn't considered a "BMW." You can get a used 07 CTS-V for less then 35k. Look up the prices for the BMW 335i (less expensive) and you'll be lucky if you can find a 07 for under 35k.
If you have the money, go get the car now, because with I hardly doubt they are making any amount of money that looks good to the bean counters (with all the R&D and engineering blood/sweat). GM's financial problems, they'll pull the plug on these great cars in 2010-2011.

So are you trying to compare an 07 CTS-V, a car pretty much at the end of its life, with the refreshed totally new version slated to be in the showrooms in a few months with an 07 335, which , basically came in when the 07 CTS-V was pretty much dead.
Maybe I got it wrong, but the 07 CTS-V is way bigger than the 335 abt 100 extra ponies, and dont even talk abt the torque. yeah the BMW badge did retain the value though.
The 09 CTS-V is comparable in Size and power to the M5. As big as the M5 and faster.
But right said abt the faltering prices of all these muscle / european performance cars (read M5)
If I didnt have the GTO, I would so have bought one of those or a corvette at employee pricing.. hee hee..

Nice, but why do they have the Camaro in boring ole silver? The whole video was quiet, then the last second the ZR1 comes by loud as hell, good thing I had my speakers cranked!

"infamous supercharged 'Vette?" "Infamous" means well-known for bad reasons (Hitler was infamous not famous). You are either one of the many zr1 haterz or did not have the vocab to say something like "now famous," "reputed," "celebrated," etc.

Would like to hear the Camaro. Also agree a CTS-V would complete the vid. And a better color on the SS.

Why can't Toyota produce any performance cars to compete with these GM products?
GM has the Vette, Camaro, G8, G8ST, CTS, HHR, Colbolt, etc.., and Toyota has...zzzzzz
Toyota has given up competing to make good cars and now only wallows in past glory, and on a rep built on past reliability.
Corporate cynicism at its worst.
Where is the Supra? the MR2? to compete with the GM products.

Why can't Toyota make any of these money losing cars anymore? Seriously?

""Why can't Toyota make any of these money losing cars anymore? Seriously?""
Which car was it that "The Bank of Toyota" lost money on again? The Supra? the MR2? You're joking I hope.

The Subayota will be out in a few years, I like how they're going to Subaru for the drivetrain! It has been confirmed that Subaru will be getting the more fun version though!!
MikeW 3:51PM (9/17/2008)
They wouldn't be sparring unless the supercharger was stuck in bypass in the Vette.
