That means they are washed up.
NASCAR is a huge step DOWN!

It might be a step down in your mind, but the paycheck is a step up.

Not if you are a driver...ask Kimi what Ferrari pays! Or ask Mr. Shumacher how much he earned. To give you a hint, Shumacher personally donated $10mil to the tsunami relief a few years ago. Can not comment on pay for staff though.

Actually since Ron is as tight as a ducks arse, and NASCAR pays a considerable amount of payment for achiving higher positions, as well as a *massive* amount of sponsorship money, many drivers would be better off in NASCAR. Juan certainly has said he is, and he enjoys it more - after all they do encourage racing, rather than disqualifying people who get side by side.
Oh, and this topic is about Steve Hallam. The engineer. Not drivers. And Hallam will be much better off in NASCAR.
There is far too much motorsport bigotry around. NASCAR may have a bad name, but my God F1 fans are far too up there own arse. Can't we all just accept motorsports as they are? I feel embarrassed being a NASCAR fan, and an F1 fan. Both sets are a disgrace to the series, as the comments in this section show.

I'm not so sure about that. You can check Forbes most earning sportsman and you can find Kimi Raikkonen as world 4th most earning sportsman with he's 44 million. While example Schumi even in last years list was still on a spot 4 or 5. Didn't find any Nascar driver in top 20 and dunno if there's any even in top 30.
F1 is the sport where cash flows no doubt about it if you think that Toyotas budget is 600 millions(it could be even more). Ferrari is supposed to have 500 and McLaren about 450. Thought it could be better to be crappy driver in Nascar than in F1 if you want some "ok"cash.

If I remember right, about 10 years ago a guy named Steve Hallam made a visit to a NASCAR team. He looked around and asked questions about things like camber settings. Of course, they had never thought about the impact of camber etc. on cornering. THEY DO NOW!!!
I'm sure he'll do just fine. And he'll have the advantage of working in English, which is distinct from whatever language Ron Dennis speaks.

Though he will get royally screwed on the exchange rate. Pun intended.

Why would you go from F1 to NASCAR is beyond my understanding.

Steve Hallam: "I believe we can gain a few tenths by using my designs for an improved steering assembly..."
NASCAR Team owner ( sounds like Mater from Pixar's cars ) "Ya hurt yer what?"
Steve Hallam: "I'm sorry?"
NASCAR Team owner: "Whatcha sorry fur?"
Steve Hallam: "I beg your pardon, I am having some difficulty understanding you..."
NASCAR Team owner: "You beg for my hard on? Iz you one of them thar metro sexual I heard about there in the Europes where ya'll from?"

F1 to NASCAR. Isn't it like getting Ph.D and going to the 1st grade?

Was this not the story I read on Formula 1 sites saying that he was indeed heading to the Charlotte, NC area but to head up an arm (leg, ear, nose, or other appendage) of McLaren Engineering?
IIRC the article stated that McLaren is already a supplier of parts / technology to NASCAR teams. Yeah, I said "technology" and NASCAR.

JD 10:28PM (9/16/2008)
I think you're mistaken..... I don't think anyone in nascar knows what this "technology" thing is, which is why they're running carbureted, pushrod V8's...... it will be a rude surprise when he finds out that the pneumatically activated valves of F1 aren't there in nascar engines. :)

as a friend of a craftsman truck driver , the money in sprint cup is in the sponsership packages and hats and shirts , dale jr may be paid 20mill from hendricks but he most likely makes a lot more from tv , ads and all those shirts and hats with his likeness on them , f-1 drivers have very little sponsership value to americans
