Click above for a hi-res gallery of the Audi Q7 V12 TDI

The Audi Q7 V12 TDI is set to launch (but not here in the U.S.), and it's just the thing to give that annoying neighbor with his fancy VW Touareg V10 TDI a debilitating inferiority complex. 500 horsepower and approximately enough torque to counter-rotate the Earth (758 lb-ft) come standard on Audi's diesel monster. 21-inch wheels mask carbon ceramic brakes, LED running lamps help light the way, and the interior is a festival of dead cow, TV screens, and Alcantara, all trimmed neatly in aluminum and carbon fiber. If we were, say, Russian gangsters, we'd totally be driving one of these. (Except Neff, who would undoubtedly, stubbornly continue rolling in the Alero.) In conjunction with the launch, Audi dumped a slew of new pictures on its media site, so here they are. Click away.

The rear looks really amazing, those R8-like lights really work nicely.

Actually - everytime you accelerate you affect the earth's rotation. GASP! We are saved though by Mr. Chin doing the same in China ... in a different direction.

Can Not Wait to track this, just for entertainment sake.

That torque figure is ridiculous! Are you sure that is not a typo?

With that much torque you could pull an aircraft carrier, forget mere "boats"!!
It's correct, it has exactly 1000Nm of torque :). Just check the spec sheet in the gallery. It's torque-limited, too by the look of the torque curve.

That thing wouldn't even need a 6 speed auto, just leave it in 6th gear permanently, probably wouldn't make any difference anyway unless your towing an A380 or something :D.

"the interior is a festival of dead cow"

      haha wonderful..

i don't even want to think of kickdowns in this car....needless to say the Starbucks would likely cease to be in its cup.

The V12 is awesome, but I'd be willing to settle for the V8 TDI if they'd just bring that over to the US.

Can't you just order it yourself?
Not domestically. You'd have to buy overseas, import, deal with getting it by the DOT etc.

Whew. Audi finally steps up to offer a vehicle that can haul my trailer with a GT2, Scuderia, AND Gumpert to the 'Ring at autobahn speeds. Now I don't have to choose only one.

Any SUV that has a 300 km/h speedo has my respect. Not to mention it's "diesel" so you are "saving the environment" at the same time.

      Brilliant, Audi, simply brilliant.

i bet GM could squeeze Neff out of the alero if they built a cutlass 442. i know i'd dump my aurora for one.

You guys see that episode of Fifth Gear where they towed a 747 with the V10 TDI? What kind of crazy person thinks they need more torque?
meh, who needs more, this thing's faster and gets slightly better fuel economy.

Audi really needs to put that engine in the R8, at least as a concept.

whats the tow rating on this beast?!
      and those brakes look huge
It could probably pull Jupiter out of it´s orbiter, so it doesen't matter.
Jesus, it has more torque at IDLE than the peak torque of a BMW M3!
        3500kg.

I say screw the audi and put that engine in a half ton GM truck. It'd probably get way better mileage and has double the torque figure, and way more horsepower too.
