Click above for high-res gallery of the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS

Here we go again. Late last month we brought you a bevy of beautiful 2010 Chevy Camaro SS shots, and today General Motors has released a big batch of its own. These new images include studio shots of the 422-hp Camaro SS from various angles, as well as a few detail shots of the front and rear ends. Eh, it was about time for a new desktop wallpaper anyway.

The car isn't supposed to hit the street for another year and I've been sick of it since just after Transformers came out on DVD.

What's with GM parading out "production vehicles" or "production-based vehicles" years before they actually hit the market? Any excitement they build is replaced by loathing since GM wants to beat the images in your head, despite the fact that you can't own one yet.

SS can be ordered with the RS appearance package but it will only be available in midnight silver.

Also, Mr. Red, the Camaro will be out in March which, by my calculations (and use of a very ancient tool called a calendar,) it will be available in 6 months. Countdown is on.

You mean you didn't have "pics aplenty" before?

I know - it's awful. Same with Cooper S, Tacoma and Mustang. Bad design era my friend.

        :D

The hood slit has always bee known to be non-functional. The hood latch is right behind it, and the intake is off to the side. What would it's function be? Running air over the engine to help cool it? It's not really that big, so not a lot of air would make it through anyways. I think it's cool to have it be functional, but I don't really see how much of difference it could make.

not as bad as the faux vents

I just don't like it. It could have been very nice but it's too high and narrow and looks like a plastic shell on a frame rather than a body of a car.

I can't wait until the baby boomers pass on and we can get away from these retro cars.

I have to admit all these pictures now will make the car feel a bit dated by the time it comes out. But it is a beautiful sexy car! I am still not tired of looking at them, just longing to see one in person driving down the road!

Wow! They hit the nail on the head with the design. What are anybody's guesses on what the LS9 model will be called? And do you know where I can see some pics of the interior of the production model?

I would have preferred GM make it look like a 1980s IROC or any 3rd gen car, or the last of the 2nd gen cars from the early 1980s. Those were the years (1970-1992) where the Camaro sold best and had the most impact on the public, years which made it an icon, not the 1st gen cars, which were never my favorite Camaros anyway. That said, this new one is a good looking car and a true Chevy, so I like it. I wish it would be an '09 instead of an '10, but it is a good car. I saw one in red on the blog, and it looked BEAUTIFUL! Good job Chevy & GM.

HID lights are offered with the RS option. What you see is the base SS without it.

I love the car but I'd like to see it some other color than silver. Black, orange, blue or white.

It also bothers me that the bowtie isn't blue (the change to gold was never warranted and a change for the worst) and that the SS doesn't have actually SS badging with the engine displacement in CID or litres in place of the bowtie.

I'd also like to see it wearing stripes. Like the Challenger and Mustang it looks slightly naked without them.

This just in, pics of the new Camaro!

Please please please stop posting pics of this car until they are of one sitting on a showroom floor.

I noticed that the car in the pics is sportin' Pirelli Pzero tires. Yeay! GoodYear blows monkeys...

I really love the way the new Camaro's look, but geez are they going to be common as hell on the road. It's going to be like the Mustang and Charger all over again.

V6's done with the tackiest wheels and paint jobs you can imagine. Yuck.
