Kleemann offering tuning package for the CLK63 AMG Black Series
There's not much we would change about the Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series. Its 6.2-liter V8 produces gobs of power and torque, and the F1-inspired design is a beautiful combination of form and function. Danish tuner Kleemann, however, thinks that it could use some tweaking and has introduced a tuning package that it considers to be a sophisticated optimization. Horsepower has been increased from 507 to 545 via a remapped ECU and an upgraded exhaust system that includes high-flow exhaust manifolds and downpipes with sport catalytic converters. The stock 19-inch AMG wheels have been replaced with 20-inch Kleemann TS-6 3-piece wheels. Finally, the Kleemann logo replaces the standard badges on the trunk. Sophisticated, yes, but whether it's the limited production and possible collectability or the fact that we just like the car as is, we think we'd keep a CLK63 AMG Black Series stock if we had one in the garage and leave any upgrades to the standard CLK63 AMG. The press release can be found after the jump and a high resolution photos are in the gallery below.

PRESS RELEASE:
Cars from the AMG division of Mercedes-Benz have always been considered as something rather special. With the introduction of the Black Series models, this is more evident than ever before, and the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is considered by many as the ultimate driving machine. At Kleemann however, they saw it as just another interesting challenge, and the result is one of the most fascinating and uncompromising Kleemann cars ever.
How do we optimize this car? This question has only one correct answer: With sophistication! The already fabulous CLK 63 AMG Black Series doesn't leave much room for improvements, but the Kleemann engineers didn't hesitate for a second, when they received this challenge. Somehow, AMG had just done a lot of the work that had previously been performed by Kleemann on the "normal" CLK's, so the task wasn't really that difficult.
The first thing you notice on a CLK Black is the racy styling – particularly the wide fenders, which house the 19" AMG wheels. Now the car rolls on 20" 3 piece Kleemann TS-6 wheels, 10" wide with 255/30 tires on the front axle and 11" wide with 305/25 tires on the rear axle. These wheels visually complete the exterior of the car and work in perfect harmony with the race inspired Black Series chassis for a much improved driving experience.
The next step of the Kleemann optimisation was a power increase for the 507 HP 6.2 litre AMG engine. This car is the first model fitted with the new Kleemann 63-K2 kit, consisting of a set of high flow exhaust manifolds with matching downpipes and 200-cell steel sport catalysts and a remapped engine ECU. This kit increases peak power to 545 HP and 675 Nm of torque and power is raised throughout the rev scale, retaining the everyday driveability of the stock engine and eliminating the need to modify the gearbox (The Kleemann 63-K2 kit can be fitted to all AMG 63 cars).
As the final touch to the magnificent car, the brand new Kleemann logo kit has replaced the MB letters on the boot lid. The elegant and minimalistic letters add a touch of exclusivity and mystique to the car, and set it apart from other "standard" Black Series cars (The new logo kit is available from January 2009).
The Kleemann philosophy Comfort Power represents the point that tuning isn't just about raw power and radical styling. The main goal must always be power and driveability in perfect harmony and the Kleemann CLK 63K AMG Black Series is a perfect example of just that.

I don't think it looks stupid at all. In fact, I like the transitions made to the S550 like features. I am a current S550 leasee.
What I don't like about Benz's current line is that they upgraded the CLS500 to the CLS550 as well as the C300 - C350 and didn't incorporate the S-classes COMMAND the exact same way. I love my S-class so it suprised me when I went to my dealer, tested a CLS550 and saw the leftover interior from the S500.

If you are a ricer who's daddy is a sheik, then those rims are for you. Wait, this is their target customer, isn't it?

Those wheels are awful and don't belong near a car of that caliber.
I'm sure there's someone silly enough to think that the tuning package looks good or rich enough to look past the bad wheels for "exclusivity". (Exclusively having bad wheels on a beautiful car.)

The CLK really needs a redesign soon. Luckliy one is coming next year.
The redesign should have been 1-2 years ago...

I'm not trashing the car. It's the wheels, the ridiculous fender arches and the diffuser mostly. I'm not a big fan of Benzes to begin with though.

Flashpoint and I have excellent taste. :-)
The one thing that I would change comma however comma is the four tailpipes by converting to a pure dual pipe setup. The four tailpipes look a little ostentatious to me.
The Kleemann wheels offset by the arches are the frosting on the cake and make a powerful visual statement.
