VIDEO: First U.S.-spec Gumpert Apollo arrives

Click above to watch video after the jump
Gumpert has finally expanded its reach beyond Europe and begun selling its Apollo supercar in the U.S. The supercar, which currently sits atop the list of fastest cars around the Top Gear test track, will be shipped to the U.S. and arrive in Arizona where the drivetrain will be assembled and final performance checks done by Evolution Motorsports. Then the cars move on to California where customers actually do the purchasing and pick up at European Touch in Huntington, Beach. The base price for one of ten U.S.-spec Gumpert Apollos coming to the U.S. each year is reportedly $400,000, though each can be infinitely customized and final prices above $700,000 are not uncommon. Just watch out for those speedbumps, as any repair work has to be done back in Arizona by Evolution Motorsports, the only authorized Gumpert repair center in the country. Follow the jump for a video of the first U.S.-spec Apollo's arrival in Arizona.
UPDATE: Second video of U.S.-spec Gumpert Apollo being driven on-track by Sam Hubinette added after the jump.

You could call it the Douschebag for all I care, so long as I continue to lap you around the track.

Its not called the "Gumpert", its called the Apollo. I wouldn't want to drive around in a car called the "Ford", but one called the "Mustang Cobra" or "GT" is plenty cool. Get what I mean?
...not that i like mustangs, it was an example..hehe

"...pick up at European Touch in Huntington, Beach. "
There is no comma for Huntington Beach.

who cares

The first invasion was spoiled by a speed bump.
Let's hope the second invasion is checked for obstacles such as uneven pavement.
From a beauty standpoint this car is not easy on the eyes in my own opinion, but the 8 year old in me goes "WOW!!!"

I will never complain when form follows function.
HotRodzNKustoms 5:23PM (9/09/2008)
TJ, did you complain about the Volt?
TJ 5:40PM (9/09/2008)
No I didn't complain about the volt.

I have to say a car like this is a Trailer Queen kind of car i.e. more for being parked in someone car collection in their garage, this is not a very practical car for normal street driving in the city as we all saw recently with the car getting stuck on a fairly low speed bump. I am sure it'll get stuck on trying to go up steep hils or driving on uneven pavements..

Maybe they are prescription, or he really likes Bono.

i'm assuming the readers on this board watch top gear and i was just thinking about sumthing after reading the old jump about it not making it over the speed bump, isnt the gumpert apollo ground clearance too low to be on top gears power lap board?

Apparently you have to have douche-looking sunglasses to drive or talk about this car.

they didn't count the caparo T1's lap time because it rode too low; this really doesn't look much higher at all, am I wrong?

They allowed the Gumpert because the Apollo S has a height-adjustable suspension...
If you remember a prior episode of TG where Jeremy, Richard, and James kept getting stuck on the ramp of a parking garage with their supercars... a Ferrari 430 was one of those cars that constantly got stuck.
I was puzzled as to why the Radical SR3 (which annhilated everything on the TG Power Lap times at that point) didn't count and speed bumps were the reason.

It's one ugly beast, but it sure can move.
