Hot or Not? 2011 Chevy Volt

Click above for high-res gallery of the 2011 Chevy Volt
Now that the first official pics of the production 2011 Chevy Volt are out, it's time we take an official measure of General Motors' success in bringing the concept car to production. The production Volt is markedly different from the Volt Concept, and while we'd normally decry a vehicle losing what it made is so special on the stand, the Volt didn't necessarily garner attention because of how it looked but rather because of what General Motors promised it could do. So now that the production version of the Volt is here, do you like its design more, less or the same as the concept? Thanks to RS for the above photoshop!

It looks better because there was no way they could have replicated the concept. For the purpose it's going to serve and to compete against the Prius it looks excellent.

I agree. If they get the interior and reliability right, this will seriously change people's opinions of GM. Break a leg, GM.

i agree on the Prius point... but would you still pay 40k?

As an avid lover of all things that look cool and a conscience killing me over the gas I use with my 350z I was really looking forward to going all electric with a very cool looking car.
the lack of affordable (under 60K) electric cars that actually LOOK good is the ONE thing keeping me from selling my cars. yes plural.. cars... i want a nice looking, sleek, futuristic electric car. is that too hard to do? you took an awesome concept and dumbed it down to crap.
I will now continue waiting for the second production line of the tesla. I am no longer interested in the Chevy Volt.
The show car had me excited. the production version is a buzz kill.
Thumbs down execs.. thumbs down.

They really F'ed up this reveal. The color is so terrible, the pictures have people standing infront of the car, they picked the worst angles, the list goes on... They should of showed us good closeup angles of the purple one from transformers, that looked better than the concept from afar.

It kinda looks like an Acura specially the head lights.

Can someone p-chop these GM peeps out off the scene...
You Lutz boys all got your 15 minutes of fame, now....GIT!!!

I thought the Concept looked good, then I saw the spy shots of this one, and this is so much better looking than the Concept. It's sleeker, and doesn't look nerdy like some hybrids (Actually I mean just 2 Hybrids: the Insight and Prius :) ). Plus, the Concept was as aerodynamic as a brick in the wind tunnel.

Looks decent to me.. Nothing like that mongoloid photoshop expert from TTAC predicted though (surprise surprise)..

Looks pretty close to me. Ugly as expected.

How can we properly vote on the production one when all the photos are swarming with ugly dudes in suits? As far as official pics go, these are awful. People are always more interested in the car... I guess someone forgot that when they took these pics.

I wonder why the photographer didn't tell them to get out of the way.

You are correct. The pix are to a large extent just smiling dudes with the car as a backdrop. At least Hotrod uses babes.

Which one gets the 50 billion dollars

i think it is all because they want to show the guy who made the car. it's suposed to be a ground braking car and they must have wanted to show who were responsable for it. who knows? if the car sucks you might go back to this pics as a reference to find them and beat them!!! :P
i like it better than the concept. i don generally like concepts. the bmw m1 is good but i would put money on a production model being more subtle and better looking.

I was thinking the same thing. I understand they want to give the creators credit, but they still didn't provide a clear shot of the car as a whole. I don't understand their logic. Perhaps they're hiding something?
Torrent 7:16PM (9/08/2008)
Really. It's more like a Chevy Volt Design Team Reveal with a Chevy Volt in the background.
Illis Billis 10:08PM (9/08/2008)
I agree that's horrible. Shouldn't even be posted. Portaits of a bunch of strange looking people? What does that have to do with the car?

Only an American car company could introduce one of their most eagerly anticipated new cars with a bunch of fat execs in the way... No European company would do something this pathetically politically correct. What an embarassment for GM and the country! And what a loss to us all for not seeing the vehicle be adorned with hot chicks...
