This shot of the Corvette Centennial Concept comes courtesy of our friends over at Jalopnik who have a few more in their own gallery. For those of you living under a rock, the Corvette Centennial Concept is both a tribute to General Motors' 100-year history and a budding young actor on the Hollywood stage with a bit part in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. It is not, we repeat not, a production car, a concept intended to hint at the future design direction of the Corvette or any such thing, at least as far as we know. Being a flight of fancy concept, however, doesn't take away from its inherent coolness. The view from the rear is particularly mind blowing as you can see the split rear window, incredibly sculpted rear fenders and nuevo Sting Ray badge. We're not sure when the actual car will be revealed, but GM is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this month. Then again, the official debut might also coincide with the release of the Transformers sequel in 2009. We'll have to wait and see.

All the Domestic Fanbois retarding over a crappy concept car with unsexy lines.

Catgirl, you fail. That thing is VERY sexy.

You know how on alien the aliens have that mouth inside of their mouth? THAT'S what I'm seeing when I look at this car. It has two faces, and they both want to eat you. I kinda like the idea of the car but not so much the execution. I'd still drive it over my focus though. ;)

Huh, GM can still flub a good thing. The Camaro is so very right, and I find the new Malibu really handsome... but what is this?

      Its a little silly, honestly.

Is it weird I masturbated to this picture?

Nope it isn't :) , But it's a bit like masturbating to 3D porn, It doesn't exist, and never will.

That thing sucks a whole lot. If they want a good concept they just need to knock the cobwebs off the Corvette Indy or CERV III. Those cars were 20 years ahead of their time and would be just fine right now.
Both the CERVIII and the Indy may have been ahead of their time, but a mid-engine Corvette is almost as wrong as one with 4 or 6 cylinders or front wheel drive. It's just not a real Corvette without a front engine, rear drive layout and a V8, regardless of the advantages other layouts and engine configurations offer.

Like I said last time pictures of this were posted - this looks like a conglomeration of as many earlier Vette styling cues as they could throw together. '57 grille, C-3 fenders, C-4 hood, late model roofline, and of course, '63 rear window treatment. The rear looks they drew from the '50s Alfa BAT concepts as well. Some of works together, some of it...not so much... The grill and the exhaust outlets look particularly out of place. From a side profile, though, it looks sleek and aggressive...

I think they need to stick to copying Ferrari and keep the current (hot) C6 away from this retro fad.

      you are...

To NOT put this into production, would be a travesty...
I doubt this will be produced. Remember how the old split window was discontinued because of "safety concerns"?

I actually like this one a lot better than the real Corvette.
