Click above for high-res gallery of the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS

Regardless of the fact that over a dozen official looking images of the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS showed up on the web early last week, this single high-res image of the modern muscle car is notable for the fact that it is the first overall shot that GM has officially released. It showed up on the automaker's media site yesterday evening all by its lonesome with no accompanying details, but what else is there to know besides the fact it's packing a 6.2L LS3 V8 producing 422 hp and 408 lb-ft of torque? And for those who were wondering before, the nostril vent does appear to be part of the production package. Perhaps this picture's sudden appearance portends more information to come. We'll keep our ears and eyes open just in case.

I can't wait to check this out at the LA Auto Show. Hopefully GM will keep pricing within reason so regular people like myself can still purchase one.

Looks better then the Challenger and current gen Stang'. The lines of the car reminds you of the muscle car classic, but yet it has sharp lines to remind you its a 2009 modern muscle fuel efficient car.

Glad to see the full return (We had the new Stang' for a number of years now) of the American muscle cars.

... so it's exactly the same as the one they've just released.

      SS better not mean supersillious.

It's bold, and almost sensual yet muscular without looking at all cheesy. Just about perfect. I reserve judgment on the interior until I see it in person though.

This car is as close to a grand slam as one can come. I simply love the way it looks.

There was nothing big about the GTO (A very ugly car) and there is nothign big about this Camaro either. There is nothign wrong with big cars either.

This new Camaro is a good car.

I think the ~600 lbs. difference give the old Camaro SS an advantage. Can't wait to see the yuppies dropping $40K+ and lose to the old model. Just like the GTO, 400hp only gets you so much when you weigh in with an E-Class...

The GTO was always a fast car even if it was a big heavy... 0-60 in 4.7 is no joke sir ////

Of the three current Muscle cars the Camaro design is my least favorite. It just never looks right to me. Maybe in person it will grow on me. I just think the Mustang and Challenger looks better. You look at them and if you know anything about cars realize what they car but not so much with the Camaro other then the fact it was in Transformers and that's why people know what it is.

Funny you should say that. I find the Camaro to be truly amazing. To me it looks much better and fresher than anything else in its segment.

Heck, to me it's the most design on the entire market at the moment.

For the moment I rank them Mustang, Camaro and then the other one. The Camaro can jump in front if the new Mustang doesn't do it for me.
The Mustang and Camaro are new modern takes on an older design. The other one is an old design rebuilt. Bleh!

I can not wait until Top Gear get their hand on All 3, (Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro) what a show that will be.
