Coming to a console near you: Need for Speed: Undercover

The trailer for Need for Speed: Undercover is out, and it is 60 straight seconds of "We want." The in-game texture looks primo and the storyline sections are a nice mix full-motion and rendered video. We have no idea what the game involves yet, so we can only hope that EA has restored some of the buck-wild madness that was missing from Need for Speed: ProStreet. We do know, however, that not only have police chases returned, but the boys in blue appear to be driving... R34 Nissan GT-Rs. So if as the sultry voiceover in the trailers says, "This is all going to come crashing down," it looks like you'll have a whole lot of fun making rubble. Follow the jump for the video, and check out the Need for Speed site for a couple more. Thanks for the tip, catgirlshyla!

That's supposed to say R35 Nissan GT-Rs, right? Because the R34 was the Skyline GT-R. Otherwise, game looks awesome and should be more of what made games like Most Wanted fun and less of what made ProStreet boring.

Either I wrote down R34 Nissan GT-R in the tip, or Jonathon Ramsey saw something in the trailer I didn't see.

looks like Chevy Camaros to me

there are both chevy camaro cops cars in this vid as well as r35. if you slow down the vid to the right spot you can see the camaro and the r35 in the same scene where the camaro gets smashed up against the wall

I dont care until the NFS series goes back to the good old days of Hot Pursuit.

Totally agree. Still have, and still play to this day HP3 on PS2. Love that game.

Hot Pursuit 1 was awesome. CLK GTR FTW!
I do have a soft spot for Underground 2, though. Amazing game, and probably the last NFS that actually required braking technique. Brooke Burke didn't hurt, either.

I agree. Sure the new NFS's are good, but H.P. was epic. Not too serious, but still had meaning.
and wtf is up with their animation in these new need for speeds? they're like half real, half anime. it's creepy.

Underground was still the best

Underground was probably the worst game out of Need For Speed series while the following games (Most Wanted, Carbon) were mediocre at best. Need For Speed just wasn't what it used to be after Porsche Unleashed was released. Undercover looks quite promising though...

The cops only drive GT-R's if you're driving a car of the same class. Most of the time they drive crown victorias. :)

Jeebus! Bad ass movie or even more bad ass video game?!
I doubt this will come out on my Wii... might have to get a 360 for this one.

It will come out for Wii.. just with crappy graphics.
Superleggera 5:57PM (9/04/2008)
No, you should probably get a ps3.

The graphics on wii aren't that bad. just cartoony. Cars look ok though

You're in luck - the 360 is about to drop to $199 for the low end model.
I agree that the NFS Hot Pursuit series was the best. I still have fond memories of playing that game while drinking the hard stuff underage - NFS and Doc Otis Hard Lemonade - "oh my god, I had 3 doc Otis' I'm so hammered!"

It could have been 60 seconds of "we want", but look at what's coming out a month earlier...

Sorry, EA, but as a lifelong NFS fan, I'll be skipping Undercover for Midnight Club LA this year.
And hankfidel, you're kidding, right? Underground was the series' jump-the-shark moment. The series truly died after Hot Pursuit 2...

There's room for both, man. MC:LA was way better than the rest of the series, I played it last weekend and it feels really solid.
