Rumormill: Fisker planning four hybrid models

Fisker Automotive is going to have its work cut out for it when it comes to meeting its self-imposed deadline of bring the Karma sedan to market by the fourth-quarter of 2009. To complicate matters even further, the automaker is now rumored to be working on three more plug-in hybrids. That would represent a truly serious undertaking for such a small automaker. To ease matters slightly, all four models would use the same basic underpinnings -- including the most important piece of all, the lithium ion battery and its assorted bits. Fisker has recruited Quantum Technologies, a company which has seen success building vehicles for the military, for help in creating the drivetrain for its electric vehicles. Reportedly on the drawing board are a coupe, a convertible and an SUV, all of which should go a long way towards meeting Fisker's goal of selling 15,000 vehicles a year by 2011.

My hat's off to Fisker for taking the hybrid high road, but that Karma is hideous. I see prehistoric shark.

Fisker? More like Whisker. That thing looks like a catfish.
j/k. It looks pretty good tho. Better looking than anything they've put out in a long time. Even that convertible.
lmao @ Prehistoric Shark!

too bad no one can afford them, except those which don't see the price of gas as a problem.

These companies are focused on making vehicles for the more affluent clientele, but then again, a company like Fisker or Tesla can't put out the production numbers GM can. I also think Fisker's doing the right thing by creating something a bit more prestigeous-looking (if you think that) to hopefully get more people excited about the possibilities of future vehicles that don't necessarily look like green golf carts.

That's why you gotta love rich people!! They are the early adopters of expensive technology. The first cars were driven by rich people. The first harddrives were bought by (relatively) richer people, vcrs, lcd screens, plasma screens, space travel, etc, etc.
We'll get our crack at them sure enough.

Yes,
I reserved a chassis and should get it in 2010(maybe). I would love to get the same car in a coupe.
Karma, Volt, or Tesla model S...2010 will be a good year and the last time i buy any significant amounts of gas.

Styling by refugees from the Aztek studio. Only somebody like an oil prince would find this appealing.

Hey folks, listen up! You better get used to the ELECTRICS, they're going to be around long after ALL of us drivers of those gas guzzlers are dead and buried! It's like Barack Obama, a sign of the new way of doing things! It's going to be hard but try you best to get in line, AMERICA is MOVING AHEAD, LIKE IT OR NOT!

Hey, why did my comment get removed? It was neither offensive, nor off topic.
