Spy Shots: 2009 Honda City fully revealed

Honda's latest City, which is primarily sold overseas in Asian countries, has been outed and things are looking pretty good for the little machine. We really dig the look of the new City, with its front-end clearly derived from newer Hondas like the FCX Clarity. Inside is a neat and tidy dash, instrument cluster and center stack that makes us long for the simple designs from a few years back. Tucked in behind the steering wheel are paddle shifters for the automatic transmission and under the stylishly creased hood is a 120-horse 1.5-liter four cylinder i-VTEC engine, which is also used by the Fit and Jazz models. Based on photos alone, Honda could certainly do worse than to offer this fuel-sipper on U.S. shores. Thanks for the tip, Ahsan!

I thought I would be somewhat original in that mindset but you sir have hit the nail squarely on the head.
For once I thought honda was going to start having some good designs when the new civic came out. Then they went and startd making everything horribly angular.

looks just like the 2010 Ford Fusion front end.

Honda's been using similar grilles for quite a while now.

I thought something similar. Honda is TOTALLY ripping off Ford's three bar grille.
Furthermore Toyota is ripping off Mazda with the front of the Camry, Honda is ripping off Ford now, Scion is ripping off Volvo's entire look but in a smaller version. Hyundai ripped off 80% of the Accord look and even Mercedes grill with the Genesis. Can't these companies think of their own friggin designs?
God Bless Ingenuity and Originality

Stylish, but the giant OCP-issue Robocop grill looks a tad audacious for a car this small. What's with Honda and their grilles lately? They can't seem to decide what the hell they want to do.

I love Hondas, LOVE THEM. But this grill is ugly.

i don't like it...reminds me of the new Ford Focus...to tell ya the truth...if it had a blue-oval badge on the front and back ends, 99% of you would agree its hideous...i don't think the interior is all that great either...

I'm actually feeling this. Too bad we'll never see it here, I don't think. I can't imagine the MPGs would be that much better than the Civic.

Looks like an ugly Ford. I thought nothing could make the Accord look good; but compared to the City, I was wrong.

Stylish, but the OCP-issued Robocop grille is a bit audacious for a car this small. What's up with Honda and their grilles? It's like they work on the entire design and can't seem to figure out how to make a grille, so they throw one on. The problem is, each grille is different depending on the car you're looking at. They need to get their ish together.

I thought the same about all the Honda grills....however, I saw the much maligned new Pilot, and it does look much better in person than in picture.

That grill is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life.

Here's my guess: Honda has designed this grill so that the new Acura shield-grill looks stylish by comparison.
Also, does anyone know what this car does that a Fit/Jazz can't? I'm not clear why it exists.
Torrent 2:16PM (8/25/2008)
Nope. All it does for me is exercise the fact that Honda sucks at grill-making.

^^
It'd be a Yaris sedan competitor, similar to how the Aveo and Yaris both have hatch and sedan counterparts, the City is the sedan counterpart for markets where sedans traditionally do better than hatches.

The word is "grille" unless you're cooking on it.

Either way, it's still fugly, Mr. George Foreman.
