LA Preview: GM releases teaser pic of 2010 Buick Lacrosse

Click above to enlarge
Oh sure, we've already shown you spy shots of the 2010 Buick LaCrosse that reveal the kit and kaboodle, but don't let that take away from GM's release of a teaser shot showing the upcoming sedan's new grille. Along with the pic, GM confirmed that the new LaCrosse will debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show in November. We'll be there to cover the reveal, as this smallest of Buick sedans (for now) will be a big player in the brand's future success. It's nice and all to have a critically acclaimed full-size crossover in the Enclave, but more and more buyers are moving away from big CUVs into smaller vehicles at the moment, and Buick hopes they'll move right into the new LaCrosse.

Whoah, it has a Buick logo and a shiny waterfall grille. Stop the presses!

yeah its about like teasing with a "Fruit of the Loom" label.

Why not just show the whole thing? Is a Buick Lacrosse really worth teasing people with? I could see if it were a CTS-V, or the Volt, but unless that Buick turns out looking like the car version of the Enclave (i.e. nearly beautifully done), but does anybody really care enough to be "teased" by a Buick?

The only thing worth teasing us about are the engines as they haven't been confirmed, and the rumors are sometimes a crock of s***.

Basically the same ugly grille on the Lucerne. GM you are such a tease. You know how long I have waited to see the whole Lacrosse in the buff!

Oh no John big mistake. prepare to get a flood of posts on how well Buicks CUV is selling and how they are the number one in China and how the buyers of buick are half the age of Toyota buyers and how you never had to tow or horse trailer before and how one guy has a park avenue with 400k miles....

Don't teases consist of some type of arousal? Isn't there supposed to be some type of excitement, followed by a "you will have to wait until later" keying in with a pain down bellow that you will suffer with for a while until you get the full deal?
Well all I am getting is the "you will have to wait until later" sensation, that prompts me to say' "ok, whatever" and then continue with my daily life not really caring about if or when I may get to at least experience the sensation of a "home run" hit.

Yeah, pretty much. But "Buick tease" sounds like that lady from "There's Something About Mary"....the one with the super old, wrinkled boobs. Maybe if I were Ed McMahon's age, I'd find that hot, but that--and subsequently, this--brings about a new level of flaccidity.

I can't believe Buick still exist. Who buys these turds. Must be old people who are like 80.

Who? The same people who shop for a Mercury Grand Marquis...

Grandma will be so excited!

GM kept Camaro's lines very close to those of the concept. In the case of Invicta, this does not seem to be the case unfortunately. Too bad, the concept got me somewhat interested in this car.

Looks about the same as a Lexus.

They may be teasing but I'm not titillated.

I love Buicks. LOVE Buicks, but this one is a little off. Maybe I need to see it in higher quality pics, because those spy shots made the car look like the Kia Forte.

Who buys these things? The same people who buy Avalons, Maximas, MKZs etc.; 20-25% commercial fleet (LaCrosse at the low end); B2B salesmen and account managers, realtors, accountants etc., who want a spacious sedan nicer and less generic than a Camry, but can't afford an ES350, TL or CTS. It's not a very big market and they each take turns as monthly sales leader. 3,000 per month is good, 4,000 is very good. The segment is being squeezed out at the bottom end by cars like the bigger, blingier V6 Accord, and at the top end by the aforementioned mid-lux models, which are already roughly twice as popular. GM can justify the effort by selling many more in China (at much higher prices as well), and Toyota may follow suit and dump the Avalon for a premium sedan they also sell in Asia. Nissan planned to do the same but changed their minds and went for a more sporting direction, hoping to appeal to the loyal enthusiasts (die-hard arch-rivals of Pontiac Grand Prix drivers) who bought the earlier, smaller Maximas in larger numbers.

Be honest. How many people criticizing Buick have acutally driven on in the last three years? They may still attract older drivers, but the vehicle areas good as anything on the market.

I've driven the Enclave and I'll agree with you, but I politely disagree depending upon what you actually compare the cars to. Even Buick vs. Lexus, the IS and GS models are sportier (if a Lexus, aside from the IS-F can hardly be called "sporty"). They have a bit to go before Buicks car interiors match the industry standard, based on the ones I looked at, but they have a ton of positives. They're close, but I wouldn't necessarily say they're "as good as anything else".
Then again, I am a) not their target demographic and b) the target demographic could care less about a sporty drive.

Lacrosse means masturbate in French Canadian slang, that's why up here's it the Buick Allure.
Nice one Buick!
