Monterey 2008: Pebble Beach concept car lawn

Click image above for a high-res gallery of concepts from Pebble Beach
The Pebble Beach Concours has something for every car enthusiast, even if classic cars aren't your thing. Every year we take the time to tear ourselves away from the fairway and head up to the front of the lodge where the concept car lawn showcases some of the latest show cars. Many of the cars made their debut at the Detroit Auto Show this year including Chrysler's green concepts, the Jeep Renegade, Dodge ZEO, and Chrysler ecoVoyager. GM brought out the Cadillac CTS Coupe and the Buick Invicta, Lexus showed off the LF-A Roadster, and Mercedes-Benz displayed the F700 that debuted in Frankfurt. Other featured cars included the Pininfarina Hyperion, Lamborghini Reventon and Gallardo LP560-4, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport and Spyker C8 Aileron. Enjoy the high resolution gallery below.

I like the overall style of that Dodge ZEO thinger. Not the best execution, but I like a low-slung sporty wagon.

I agree. They need to build something like that to compete with the volt.
Hybrid Hemi does not cut it.

THAT is what Jeep decides is relevant today? We are what, over 50yrs into Jeep now and still no small diesel option for the U.S.? Hell no, we'll just make them and ship them all out of the country for the rest of the World to enjoy. Makes me sick.

With the exception of the Caddy, the Lambos, the Spyker and the LFA, there is a whole lot of ugly right there.
That Buick could be nice if it didn't have the overall shape and proportions of an overfilled balloon animal.
I'm just saying

So Auburn does retro even in its concepts now? I swear it's like I'm browsing through a 90's concept portfolio.

I wish the production Invicta looked exactly like that. All they needed to do to the concept was add door handles, and that's what the production version should have looked like.

Everytime I see that jeep concept I want to just put a proper set of doors on and drive really fast. I think its a great concept. It oozes fun to drive.

That CTS coupe could be the first thing to make me consider a GM. Hotness. Not that I could afford it anyway.
That Benz is disgusting though. Good god...

Maybe it's the 6-year-old in me, but the Reventon looks pretty damn cool. Not like I haven't seen it before (well, in pictures), but to me it stands out more than the others.

There are some pretty cool and interesting concepts there, but what the hell is that ugly Lexus SC430 doing in Monterey, let alone in that concept car lawn???
Seriously, Lexus needs to realize it, that car is ugly and they need to stop making it... like, NOW.

I have a feeling that if Dodge started to really work on bringing these concepts to production instead of concentrating almost all efforts on the Challenger, they would be in a lot better financial shape because they actually have small vehicles that people are looking for and would actually desire. Also these are the type of cars that bring that sense of uniqueness like the LH cars did for them in the 90's.
So how well is the Challenger covering your expenses, efforts and labor Dodge? Hmmmm?
