Click above for two sets of '09 Civic Sedan brochure scans
Honda hasn't released official shots of the mildly facelifted 2009 Civic sedan yet, but it has started sending brochures to dealers. You know how this works: brochure > scanner > web > you, so here it is. Up front, the grille is reshaped to align Civic with its Honda brethren and the lower fascia gets a more aggressive three-opening treatment that lets the foglamps be pushed farther outboard. In back, the taillamps retain their shape, but the reverse light detailing is updated. Some models (from what we can see) now also get a trunklid chrome strip. Look for some new wheel designs sprinkled throughout, as well as two new trim levels -- the DX-VP (Value Package) and LX-S (Sport appearance package). Given that people are flocking to more economical cars, those additional offerings in the lineup certainly shouldn't hurt. We expect to see 4-door's front-end changes make their way onto the Civic coupe as well. We're sure scans and photos of that will appear soon enough, with official images and details from Honda sure to follow in short order. Thanks to asndragon for the tip!

Looks like it still has the suntan special front windshield. Pass.
Bob-omb @ Aug 17th 2008 10:16AM
Uh, apparently you don't one one of these. The glass is angled forward over the deep dash, not the occupants.
FThorn @ Aug 17th 2008 10:30AM
What does that mean?

I don't "one one" either. Nor do I own one and never would. I have a thing about being able to hear the road when I'm driving. I can't stand cars that feel and sound like I'm driving a bloody paper sack downt he road.

call the windshield - bug avoider. While I had my civic the sight of a dead bug on the windshield was so rare as to be curious.
Contrast to my Miata - damn thing attracts windshield kills.
Civics are awesome cars for the money. GM/Ford should have a fleet of them just to learn why (my friends mom, retired from Ford owns one - go figure)
iomatic @ Aug 17th 2008 3:21PM
I guess you've never driven one, because my car is freakin' loud. I hear plenty of road, thank you.
R @ Aug 17th 2008 3:40PM
I don't "one one" either, but nor would I consider an ultra-quiet, sterile vehicle as my first choice, especially not heavy, automatic-only ones, but I guess if I'm just going "downt he road" for groceries, or if I'm getting ready to retire...to each his own.

Still needs more emotion in it's design....... To me. It just looks too bland right now.
*just an opinion*

The excitement will come with the redesign when it suddenly looks awkward and ugly like the new Acuras and new Hondas.
Atomicbri @ Aug 17th 2008 8:42AM
Just a midlife update, nothing that special, but this Civic will still sell like hot cakes at a Country Fair.

Introducing the new Civic!....same as the old Civic....
Still a good car, though.

There's a link in that thread to the coupe's scans. They're not as good, but they're there.

Im not a honda fan at all, but if they were smart, they'd start offering leather seats as options on their vehicles.
accord745 @ Aug 17th 2008 9:42AM
They already offer leather seats on the Civic's EX-L trim.
Franz @ Aug 17th 2008 10:47AM
They do offer leather seats, just not on the Si.
Joshua @ Aug 17th 2008 2:24PM
i was going to get the CSX, but primarily because of leather, I ended up getting the Civic. Maybe I'm stuck in my own little world, but I haven't met anyone who likes leather (at least in Canada), so I assume the demand isn't high. It makes the seats extra cold in the winter and extra hot in the summer.
RockStoneSteel @ Aug 17th 2008 3:59PM
I have to agree with Joshua. Ain't no way here in the heat of Texas I want leather. I don't even want it standard in one of the packages. Unfortunately, for many cars today, including the Honda lineup, if you want a moonroof or stereo upgrade, you have to get the stupid leather package. No doubt the manufacturers are gambling that buyers will pay that extra bit more and get the package. However, for folks like me, that's a losing gamble, because I won't take leather at any price. In fact, I would pay extra for the cloth, or Alcantara, or microsuede, any of which are more comfortable than leather any day.

Joshua and RockStoneSteel: Just tint your windows....
To you: Almost every Honda has leather as an option, and what the heck does that have to do with a Civic facelift?
FamilyGuy @ Aug 17th 2008 9:34AM
Can they go more conservative than this update? Seriously how about some soul in this car? The JDM front bumper would perk up this car so nicely.
