Woodward 2008: Flexing the American muscle

Click above for more high-res images of muscle cars on Woodward
It's with fond memories that we look back on the age of the muscle car, their big-inch V8 engines belching power and burning tires long before it was politically incorrect to do so. Starting with humble mid-size coupe origins, the Pontiac GTO ignited a trend that is just now starting to come back in style after decades of gathering dust in the corner. Still, those classic stoplight predators from the '60s and early '70s get their day in the sun today on Woodward Avenue. Take a look at all the classic American muscle we found in the gallery below.

I've done several of these, and my advice: Bring an umbrella or broil. Bring plenty of drinks in a wheeled cooler, and change for those who want to buy them, and a cushion to put on the cooler to sit on. Check the weather and pick the upwind side of the street. It's no treat to inhale hundreds of old, polluting engines. A tripod for your camera to pan the slow moving cars gives better results. Wear Detroit team insignia.
Enjoy. There's more to see than you can comprehend.

Look at picture 22, seems someone's a little butthurt about having their picture taken at a car show. I feel bad for the husband!
