Rendered Speculation: Audi S5 Cabrio
With spy shots already out in the open, so to speak, anticipation is running rampant on the upcoming convertible version of the Audi A5/S5 coupe. The cabrio is anticipated to replace the convertible version of the A4, and is tipped to make its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
The photoshop rendering you see above was skillfully executed by Quinty, and gives us a pretty good idea of what the sporty S5 cabrio could look like. While its competitors opt for retractable hard-tops, the convertible A5 and S5 are expected to use a simpler (and lighter-weight) soft-top, surrounded by a chrome strip to class it up a little. Power will likely carry over from the fixed-roof version when the new convertible hits the market early next year.

Looks slick, hope it actually does turn out like this. Almost reminds me of a Bentley drop top. Much better looking than the current S4 convertible.

A/S5 has a slick profile and pretty prominent but balanced haunches. From the looks of this picture, that balance my be absent on the cabrio variant.

I didn't know 'chrome' and 'class it up' could be used together. Anyhow, good rendering, but as with most other Audis, we could all see this cabriolet in our minds already without the need for an illustration.

I would love me some S5 action... Hardtop though, please. Minnesota isn't very kind to soft-tops. Might as well chop a few years of its average life expectancy from the 6 months of crap weather.

I'd buy this over an M3 convertible every single day.
The RS5 is what I'm really looking forward to.

My buddy is debating buying a house or trading his STI for an S5... sooo jealous.....

I hope that he makes the right decision... and get the S5. Houses are so overrated.
Zane 6:30PM (8/14/2008)
Think of it this way - your buddy could sleep in the S5 but he can't drive the house.

This is what the V8 M3 should have had.
Rag top. I almost bit on an RS4 convertible. $8K off list for a new 2007(?) at Tischer in Silver Spring, MD.
If they would come down another $5K I'd be really conflicted.
I'm definitely looking at the RS5 convertible when it comes out.

I took a tour of Audi's Neckarsulm plant in June and there were body stamping pieces for the 5. The tour guide asked if anyone had an idea what they were from. Nobody else had an idea.
It looks awesome.

Its just not fair for a car to look this good. It hurts to see the current A5 driving around (four in my area so far).

Those wheels really make the car, not that it isn't beautiful already...
