Ford Ka gets role in new Bond movie

Ford's new Ka mini-car will be making its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in early October, but it already has a bit part in the next James Bond movie. Since the success of Casino Royale and the walk on part played by the then-new Mondeo, Ford has taken up the automotive product placement mantle in all Bond movies for the foreseeable future. Unlike the Mondeo, which Bond picked up from a Caribbean rental car counter, the Ka, which shares a platform with the Fiat 500, will apparently be tossed around by the super spy's feminine counterpart. Ford hasn't given any indication that it will bring the Ka to the US market, but given recent announcements about globalizing its products, a Stateside Ka certainly can't be counted out. In the meantime, we can see if the Ka can fly like an Aston Martin DBS when Quantum of Solace hits theaters in November. Gallery: 2009 Ford Ka - Bond movie

Press Release
BOND MOVIE ROLE FOR NEW FORD KA
COLOGNE, August 15, 2008 – The highly-anticipated new James Bond adventure, 'Quantum of Solace', will feature a cameo appearance from Ford's fresh-faced new model, the all-new Ford Ka.
Ford's cheeky new small car will make its screen debut alongside the film's beautiful but feisty leading lady, Olga Kurylenko. Kurylenko plays Camille, a woman with her own personal mission and who quickly becomes an unlikely ally for Bond.
The 'Quantum of Solace' Ka is unique with metallic gold paint and an exclusive exterior graphics and interior trim combination.
"The new Ka is the perfect match for the character of Camille – adventurous, individual and thoroughly modern," says Ford of Europe's Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Odell. "We are delighted that the launch of the film coincides with the launch of such a significant new model for Ford of Europe."
The special 'Quantum of Solace' Ka was created by Ford of Europe's Design team, in collaboration with the movie's Oscar ® award-winning production designer, Dennis Gassner. The Ka's cameo continues Ford of Europe's relationship with the James Bond films, following the debut appearance of the latest Ford Mondeo, in the 2006 blockbuster, 'Casino Royale'.
Twelve years after the original Ford Ka wowed customers with its modern spirit and what has proved to be a remarkably age-less design, its successor looks set to repeat its impact.
The new model retains all the qualities which made the Ka so popular – compact size, great looks, lively dynamics and fun personality – but presents them in a fresh new package. Further technical details of the new Ford Ka will be revealed closer to launch later in 2008.
'Quantum of Solace' is produced for EON Productions by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Directed by Marc Forster, the film stars Daniel Craig as the legendary secret agent, James Bond and opens in the UK and France on October 31st, then elsewhere November 7th.
The all-new Ka enjoys the spotlight of its own at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, on October 2.

They should bring it over, if people are driving the damn Smart car they would drive this. Hell I've seen people even change to scooters for around town driving. Bring it over and it should do fine.

if you like movies, and if you like movies with cars, then undoubtedly you are going to have manufacturers vying for the placement. Marketing 101.
it's not new, or out of the ordinary.
I love seeing new product in movies, especially from our N.A. OEMS. besides, as far as small cars go, this is one of the best looking ones i've ever seen.

I'd prefer it if it was a bit more blended into the movie rather than what they did in casino royale, which litterally seemed like a ford commercial placed in the middle of the movie.

ford isn't shamelessly promoted in movies like GM is. I could name a lot more movies that seemed more like extended GM commercials:
Bad Boys II, The Island, Transformers, the Matrix Rev, etc etc.
At least people watch the Bond movies to see what car he's driving and what new gadgets he's blowing sh*t up with

HEY... Would you rather a Pontiac Aztek and a 1984 Monte Carlo as the Bond cars? Quit your bitchin'.. (with all due respect)....

Hmmm, the car from the rear (see picture 2) looks like something out of a spiderman flick.
Come to think of it, if you squint, the front looks like the green goblin's face (headlights and grille area):

Good call. Ford should also scrap the hideous American Focus and Fusion, and bring over the Euro Focus and Mondeo.
Another one that's worth bringing over is the Ford Fiesta TDCi Diesel.
