Hyundai Genesis gets introduced to DUB

Click above for more high-res pics of the Genesis DUB-ified
Who says you need to wait for Hyundai's Genesis Coupe to get your tuning freak on? Not the rims and system folks over at DUB, who took two Genesis (Geneses?) and kitted one out like, well, KITT, and the other kind of like a Stormtrooper from Star Wars. For an interior we can't exactly describe as attractive, the white one's not that bad -- certainly not as bad as it could have been. Still, following Wesley Snipes' advice from Passenger 57, we're going to bet on black. Check out the gallery of hi-res images below. Thanks for the tip, Hyundaifan!

The V6 Genesis with the technology package costs just $40,000 and its got alot of the interior charm that makes Audi's and Benzes so adored.
Change the rims and the grill and this car is fantastic for the money.

put mercedez badge in front and nobody would know this is just a hunday, or hiunday whatever that is. a nice car lacking creativity and design.

another car comes behind this one and the people in the other say.
look its the new bmw,
once they are to the side
the other guys says.
no this is the new infinity sedan.
once they pass it one says
wait I think its a mercedez benz
I think you are wrong says the other guy,
look at the badge its just a hiunday.
oh what a joke.
i still think this car is great inexpensive and comfortable.

@Arturo:
Inexpensive my ass. Inexpensive is Kia Optima or Smart Fortwo. Anything over $30k is to be considered expensive for most car buyers in the US, and the world for that matter. Why buy this when you can buy a p-ssy magnet Mercedes-Benz C300 for the same cost, better ride quality, and better features? All for a similar price point. It's more or less a no brainer really. And note Benz haters, don't make me reach into the archives or Autoblog and show you the JD power ranking for the past year.

Arturo – Hyundai made the Genesis derivative on purpose (instead of sticking to the more daring concept version).
It’s one thing to have people consider a $30-40K Hyundai, it’s another to have people consider that AND a distinctive design. Hyundai, like Lexus (when it first arrived on the scene), is “playing it safe”. In future versions, Hyundai will go for a more distinct look.
WhyNot – You are comparing apples to oranges. The C300 is a small sedan, the Genesis otoh has almost as much interior room as the S Class, 7 Series and LS.
A loaded C300 will run you over $43K – more than the price of a V-8 powered Genesis which has 375 HP under the hood. The C300 in comparison has a meager 228 HP (even the 6 cyl Genesis pumps out 290 HP).

Oh dear god is right. A Korean will forever be a Korean. A German will forever be a German. Huyndai has made good progress in automotive industry if thier ads is correct. There is no way that it can be compared to a Bimmer, Benz, Audi or lexus. It is more like a camry with downgraded interior. What is with the white stripe all around the interior, and cheap cloth on the seat. luxury car is about detail and feeling. Genesis is just anoying. For 30k, you better off with fully equpped Accord or Camry or even Mazda 6. They may not have the newst body version but they surely not going to bother your eye. Genesis, what an uncanny car? lack of creativity, form, and texture. Let me give you a tip. We seem to be attractive to whatever we haven't seen before. Genesis is one of them. It certainly is an UGLY car. A true car has to have even proportion on front and back. On Genesis, there is a seperation on the roof and the car. They look like 2 seperate entities.
When comparing to Lexus, Benz or Bimmer. These cars are a work of art. Reliability wise, Benz and Bimmer are very poor but we talking about design for now. let look at an E class Benz. The head light, what are these headlight looked like? If you can isolate everything around these lights, it will look like 2 drop of water droping in the wind. That is what make the car elegant.

Would it have killed the photographer to respect what we call a "horizontal" shot?
It's hard to judge the subject when dealing with disorientation.

Agreed. Just a symptom of an amateur professional.

Thinking about shutter speeds and camera movement would have been a nice things too. Every single shot is blurry, some much worse than others.
A tripod or monopod would have helped heaps. Or add some more light in there using some remote flash units, it would have been sweet.

And according to the pictures exif data, these were all shot on a Canon 30D - full manual around f/4.0 in most non flash shots, resulting in shutter speeds from 1/15 - 1/60, hence the lack of sharpness - you can't hand hold a camera below 1/60th and expect anything super crisp. Heck - just put it in full auto and you'd get better results.

I really like the new look of the Korean manufacturers. Genesis from Hyundai, and the new Spectra and Soul from Kia are a far cry from previous models. They are really evolving for the better.

The new look? Its the Mercedes look... so we can call it the "borrowed" look!

They look pretty good, but they just make me think about how much better the "orginal" design looks so much better on an Infiniti M.

why not the LS2LS7? 6:24PM (8/13/2008)
NO NO NO NO NO.
Yes, the white one is better. The person who did it should only be imprisoned, not killed.

From what I can see the white one isn't bad. The black one I don't care for much, but if they'd lose an inch or two on the rims on the white one it'd be fine, imo.

That is unbelievably good looking. Best looking Korean car ever, perhaps.
