Jalopnik's Auto Insider has gotten the scoop on the Corvette-like concept that's been floating around the set of the new Transformers flick, Revenge of the Fallen. According to their sources, the design study will debut sometime next year ahead of the Transformers sequel, but won't foretell the future of the next-generation C7 Corvette. Rather, it called the Corvette Centennial Design Concept and was developed to celebrate General Motors' 100-year celebration. The Corvette Centennial Design Concept takes cues from past 'Vettes – from the Stingray to today – and incorporates a Camaro-inspired grille, massive rear fenders and a quad-tip exhaust. All that said, the Centennial concept supposedly wont' influence future Corvettes – for better or worse.

The grille is taken from the '53 Corvette, not a Camaro.

My thought exactly! But go figure, A geek is only as good as their input. And if all they know is what they can search for on Google... Probably means they need to unplug from the computer for at least 4 hours a day. Seeing as this is a car sight, and posting on a corvette, I would recommend actually driving one sometime.

I thought this car would star in Mission Impossible 4: Saving General Motors. This movie will also debut the "Chevy Cruise" which will be featured heavily in this movie.

"In a world where size no longer equals status can Ethan Hunt navigate global market forces and fierce competition to turn around a hopelessly mismanaged company? Don't miss the gov't bailout evet of 2008!"

told you it was a corvette!!!!

Wow... that's nasty. Unless Chris Bangle had something to do with that, I'd guess one of the GM veepees let their 3rd grader pen the design. I'm all for giving the Vette a new look, but this one isn't it.

They obviously realize it's ugly, given the disclaimer that it won't influence future Corvettes.

Looks like a cross between the old Caddy Cien concept and a Corvette.

Oh wow, the successor to the NSX is going to be in the next GM commercial? Oh, wait...

"the Centennial concept supposedly wont' influence future Corvettes – for better or worse."

Definitely for the better. That thing is not right.

That assumes GM will be in existence and selling car for its 100 year anniversary.

      May 2000 - $81.50 a share
      August 2008 - $8.50 a share

yet another brilliant comment from Autoblog subscribers. 100 yr anniversary is this year...

Exactly what I was going to say, alex.

Seriously, these "oh, this car will be great if GM's still around by then" posts are getting old. GM is a HUGE company--the fifth largest by revenue on the Fortune Global 500 list. They're not going to fold anytime soon.
are you suggesting GM is already out of business? because this year IS it's 100 year anniversary.

      Very....Very odd.

      +1 for better.

      That grille/front end is hideous.
You had to point out that grille! I was in love with the car until I glanced back after your post!

It also brings up a usability issue! It would be very common to hit curbs when parking with that snout! (lower facia)

      "wont' influence future Corvettes"

      That's probably a good thing.
