ABTrainer: VW tuner pumps up the Passat CC

Click above for a high-res gallery of the ABT Passat CC
"C" is for comfort, but that's not good enough for ABT. The German tuning house has taken Volkswagen's sleek new Passat Comfort Coupe (CC) and given it a little more grunt. The 1.8-liter TSI goes up from 160hp to 200, the 2.0 TSI from 200 to 240, with the diesel versions up more conservatively from 140 to 170 and from 170 to 190. Suspension upgrades and a choice of wheels in 18-20 inches are also thrown into the mix, with a visual upgrades package to follow. Check out the trio of images in the gallery below.

Suspension upgrades? What, SUV suspension? That car is jacked up, I can have a party in the gap between the tire and fender.

Comfort crapola.
That is not a coupe. a sloping roofline does not a coupe make.
Otherwise, completely boring.
Maybe Comfort Carp. It kind of looks like a fish.

A sloping roofline does make it a coupe, where has it ever been said that a coupe has to be 2 doors?

Actually, Miriam Webster, and probably any other dictionary definition.
coupe
One entry found.
coupe
Main Entry: coup
Variant(s): or coupe \k-ˈpā, 2 often ˈkp\
Function: noun
Etymology: French coup, from past participle of couper to cut, strike
Date: 1825
1: a four-wheeled closed horse-drawn carriage for two persons inside with an outside seat for the driver in front
2 usually coupe : a 2-door automobile often seating only two persons; also : one with a tight-spaced rear seat compare sedan
-------------------
A two door automobile for two persons or a tight spaced rear seat, with a closed roof, referring back to closed carriages. An open roof would be a cabriolet, or convertible.
A sloping roof line on a sedan doesn't make it a coupe, even with a bit less rear headroom.
This car, the X6, CLS, and other "4-door coupes" are really just sedans with sleek-ish roof lines. That isn't the same as being a coupe.

Sharp looking SEDAN. A coupe it is not. Doesn't look bad at all though, IMO

I find that the Passat had lost its charm after the Mk. 5 (before facelift). I really like the simplicity and practicality of the Mk. 5.

Uh, we're supposed to get excited by a increase to 200hp in a nearly 4000lbs sedan?

Looks like they slapped the VW "goofy grin" on a Saturn Aura.
When will VW start making GERMAN cars again?

It's $60k. And wrong wheel drive. And a $60k Volkswagen. No thanks.
Hopefully this will be a colossal failure, so they can focus on cars like the Polo and Golf, not on luxury cars nobody would want.
