Ford Ka leaks out ahead of Paris

Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2009 Ford Ka.
The first image of the redesigned Ford Ka has leaked out ahead of its official debut in Paris this October, and as expected, the new microcar takes all the right cues from Ford's European design language. The headlamps, front fascia and accent lines all ape the new Fiesta to good effect, and with a platform shared by the Fiat Panda/500, the new Ka should still be an engaging means of puttering around town.
Engine choices will initially be limited to two gasoline powerplants (a 1.4- and 1.6-liter), along with a 1.6-liter TDCi oilburner. Further down the line, expect the Ka ST to receive the Fiat 500 Abarth's turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, some suspension tweaks and a redesigned front clip.
Sales will begin in Europe early next year and expect the Ka to make a cameo in the new Bond flick, Quantum of Solace.

Step 1 to attracting a positive response to the design of your vehicle: Choose an attractive color.

Agreed. That color is pretty sweet. Much better than silver.

There is only so many ways to shape a micro-jelly bean.
Personally, I see more of Ford-Euro design than Yaris.

not Yaris. It looks like photoshop of OPEL CORSA

1990s called, they want their outdated joke back

Toyota called because they want their Yaris back? Let me tranfer them to our Legal Department. Yes Toyota this is legal, you want your Yaris back we hear. For us at Ford to do that, we'll first need our Festiva back! And the concept of mass production!
Deal?

FRagmit...WTF are you talking about???

It looks like the Euro Focus just gave birth to a preemie Verve... :)

Come on that is SO a copy of the Peugeot and Renault blended into one.

You can get your hopes up, but prepare for disappointment. If FoMoCo did decide to bring the Ka to the states (unlikely) they would most likely have to wait until the next redesign as this one is not US crash compliant.
MONTE 3:41PM (7/29/2008)
Ford bring a small European car to the States? No, but maybe you would be interested in a F-350 or Explorer.
That One Person 6:08PM (7/29/2008)
Hey Monte, it's called the Fiesta. That's small.
why not the LS2LS7? 1:46PM (7/29/2008)
I'd rather have the old Ka. As mike mentioned, it looks like a Yaris knockoff.

It does look like Yaris, but its not a bad thing, IMO.
I know many say that Yaris looks like a fish, but i like it.
boneheadotto 1:49PM (7/29/2008)
it only looks that way because it uses the defacto Yaris color. Should have used a different color. Like the typical dark red that i seem to associate with a Ka. But i dont think it looks much like a Yaris

I liked the old one better too. For some reason everyone's subcompact car is budging from every angle now like a hippo stuffed into a quarter horse's skin. It's not very attractive.
Jason 2:12PM (7/29/2008)
it may have the general shape of the Yaris, but this is SOOOOO much better looking. The Yaris looks like a turd. This actually resembles something, dare I say it, sporty. The Honey-I-Shrunk-the-Fiesta (as if it couldn't get smaller?) front end really makes the vehicle.
Bungle 5:47PM (7/29/2008)
@Jason:
I'd like to see your turds. Mine look more like Azteks. Maybe too much bran?
