This car is the epitome of "clean." It doesn't inspire passion like a Ferrari or an Aston, it doesn't have the raw heart of a Vette or a GTR...but the lines and the execution are so perfect that I have to love it. I'm not a big Mercedes fan, but I think this is one of the most well-executed cars, through-and-through, that I've ever seen.

In my opinion no I think the SLR is better... it has a twist to it. it is it's own Design this SL65 AMG Black Series is just a SL65 with a littlebit done to the engine... and a pop up spoiler... it dose Look Very cool i like it.. but i like the SLR... Better... btw the SLR is in it's last year 2009.

Those are the numbers. as i said there both cool cars but.. if i had to pick one it Would be the SLR.

Yeah hardly obsolete. This looks mean and I love it, but the SLR is still a lil bit faster. If I had to choose I'd pick the SLR too.

Everything from the A-pillar backward looks better on this car than the SLR.

The SLR looks better forward of that, and the gull-wing McLaren Doors are always slick.

But the proportions of this car are much nicer than the SL it is based on. The roof looks SOOO much better. Although I wish the center was transparent or clear-coated black carbon fiber.

Too bad it is such a big car. This is the one that lost 500lbs of curb weight, but still weighs 4100lbs, right, or am I thinking of some other uber-SL?

And no stick shift or automated gearbox. Unfortunate.

If Mercedes REALLY wants to hit this, they should take this same formula, and apply it to the AMG SLK, fixed CF roof that looks better than the folding roof, weight loss, High output V8, maybe even a V12 just to be extra outrageous, if it will fit, and a sleek front end and fender flares. Put a DSG/PDK type gearbox in it, and sell it as a REAL front engined sports car.

This SL-based car is very striking, but it is entirely too large for what it needs to be. The smaller chassis will do everything better, with less power, spring and damper rates, and less unsprung weight from gargantuan brakes required to do it.

Nice pics, but I'll keep the Nissan GT-R as mine. I'd rather not be like every loser who has a Mercedes or BMW as their desktop wallpaper.

LOL! And Nissan guys aren't losers? I don't care though since I'm an Audi guy - RS5 on my mind and S5 on my desktop.
