Ford plant shuts down after worker killed this morning
The Detroit News is reporting that a worker at Ford's Woodhaven Stamping Plant in Michigan was killed this morning. While the family has requested the man's name not be released, sources at the factory told The Detroit News that he was a die-setter and was killed while loading a transfer press. Workers on the morning shift were immediately sent home so the accident could be investigated, but second shift workers will be back on the job today. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased worker.[Source: The Detroit News]

not only do "our thoughts" go out to the family, but also prayers. Tragic.

+1. Condolences and sorrows extended.
In a wider view, and not to minimize this loss, but thankfully this is more of an exception, than a rule. Such jobs as working with steel stamping presses, have not always been as relatively safely controlled as they are today.
The rarity of such a tragedy like this one reminds us that life is fleeting, and sometimes we take our safe conditions a bit for granted.
Condolences for the loss, and hopes for continued safety otherwise.

We're not. Some of us believe in God and want those affected by this terrible loss to know that we're PRAYING for them, not just wishing them well . . .

Amen ML
And I felt the spirit fall on me as I held them up in prayer.
Bless them Lord.

Can you really say the plant was "shut down" if they were back up and running a few hours later?

That should be "you're", not "your".

Enough with the empty condolences. It is offensive to those that matter.

When I was a supervisor at a Ford plant it was always my worst nightmere to have this happen or someone get hurt. The safety videos that they made us watch were real enough. Someone died at Wayne Assembly not too long ago....assembly plants are not safe places. I was run down by a 30,000 lb fork lift and luckily was left with just nasty bruises. Another time I broke my foot and blew out my ankle. I feel for the family. Trying to feed 'em and it comes back to take you away forever.

That's very sad. I work at a metallurgic company and know of some accidents, people losing their fingers and such, but never heard of someone being killed.
