Pics Aplenty: More of the Chevrolet Camaro

Hot on the heels of yesterday's unofficial unveiling of images of the production 2010 Camaro, photos are now flooding the web. As reported, General plans on giving customers the choice of a 416 hp 6.2L V8 or a 296 hp 3.6L V6 when the highly-anticipated coupe goes on sale, but for now, you get to choose which color to look at. Released are 52 pictures of yellow, red, and silver Camaros on the track, in the studio, and on the inside. All of them appear to be the RS model, though a couple of SS interior shots have now joined the group. Click on the images above or the gallery below to see what's been leaked so far, and look for the motherlode to arrive on Monday afternoon when we deliver plenty of high-res pics and video of the live Camaro unveiling at GM's Warren Technical Center. Thanks to all who sent tips!

I'm so happy GM didn't use the parts bin brick radio and HVAC controls like they did for so many of their recent products.
It looks really good in Yellow, and I definitly think this will outsell the Charger.

why not the LS2LS7? 2:24PM (7/19/2008)
Me too. I love the radio. I wonder if GM will use this tactic more often. It's disheartening to see a Cobalt radio in a 2008 Cadillac DTS, even if it functions fine.

LOL charger, Challenger!! oops

CORRECT: It will outsell the Charger AND Challenger.

Nice.
It looks like GM did a particularly good job on capturing the essence of the original in the interior.

So will there be a V6 with a 6speed manual?

I would believe so.
The Mustang has a 5 speed Manual, but that's out of the question.
Challenger: A 6 speed Manual
Seeing as how Chevy wants the Camaro to be as close to the competition as possible (challenger0, it's highly possible the Camaro will have a 6 speed, as well.

I think black and silver will be two of the best colors for this car. Red looks okay, but yellow (which looks bad on most cars) looks awful.

I can finally say I'm in love.

The silver car seems to have wider tires than the yellow one. I wonder if it's a V8 and the yellow one's a V6, thus the narrower tires? No matter . . . the car looks real good, and I'm glad it's ready to hit the road. It's been worth the wait!

Edmunds published a host of details about the car yesterday. Insiders say many are true, and some are not. Here they are.
*All of the photos are of the RS model which is a performance/appearance package for the V6 Camaro and SS Camaro.
*The RS package includes 20″ wheels, projector HID headlamps with BMW-inspired halos, tinted taillight lenses and a rear ducktail spoiler.
*The V6 cars carry 12.6-inch vented front rotors and 12.4-inch vented rear rotors with single-piston calipers. 14-inch plus Brembos are standard on the SS.
*The curb weight for the V6 Camaro is around 3,700lbs.
*The curb weight for the SS is 3,900lbs.
*LS and LT are models for V6 cars only and have varying equipment.
*The interior has Chevrolet bowtie blue LED lighting, including the door panels.
*Multiple interior accent colors will be available including orange.
*The SS will have the hood scoop from the concept.
*The LS3 SS is EPA rated at 15mpg city and 23mpg highway.
*The V6 Camaro is EPA rated at 18mpg city and 27mpg highway.
*Option the SS with an automatic transmission and you will get the new L99 V8 with cylinder-deactivation and it makes a little less power than the LS3 which is standard on the SS with a manual.
*Limited-slip is standard on all SS Camaros and V6 models with manual transmissions.
*The manual SS has a 3.45:1 rear gear set.
*The automatic SS has a 3.27:1 rear gear set.
*All Camaros feature asymmetrical or staggered half-shafts in the rear suspension to quell wheel-hop, just like the new LSA CTS-V and LS9 Corvette ZR1.
*Camaros with the automatic transmission have rev-matching shifts and the SS with an automatic features paddle shifters.
*The supercharged LSA Camaro is still in the works featuring the Corvette’s self-adjusting dampers with Magnetic Ride Control.
*The front struts and a rear independent multilink setup are from the Holden Commodore/Pontiac G8 sedan.
*The Camaro’s structure is 112.3 inches and 2.5 inches shorter than the Holden Commodore/Pontiac G8 it is made out of.
*The SS features front and rear antiroll bars that are almost an inch larger in diameter than those of the V6 as well as stiffer springs and more aggressive damper settings. The suspension was tuned on Germany’s Nurburghring.
GM knocked this car out of the park and spared no expense to ensure it would be an exceptional performance car.
The project was given to Holden in Australia where most of the work was done and the car uses their newest RWD platform and suspension setup. The interior is styled like the original down to the details and they blessed it with it's own HVAC, head unit, gauge cluster, steering wheel, high-quality materials and much of the same touches used in the CTS like high-resolution displays and LED lighting.
Kudos to GM for doing this car the justice it deserves.

Thanks for the details. Sounds like Mustang can hang it up...or...go back to square-one and start over!

Right right. Wait V6 automatic no paddleshifter? guess i'll need to go for the manual. my parents wont need to drive it.
but WHEN WILL IT HIT THE STREETS AND HOW MUCH??

For the last time, it'll be out in January.
Seeing as how the Mustang and Challenger start around 20K, I'll say so will the Camaro.
Spokensound 2:54PM (7/19/2008)
I would have liked to have seen the red white and blue Camaro badges instead of the bowtie's in the grille and in the rear.

Times change. Chevy decided to go with the gold bowtie a few years ago. You won't even see it in red like it was on the Monte Carlo SS. From now on, everything 'Chevy' will carry the gold emblem.

You can always remove it.

I like this car a lot. Except for the interior (which I'm actually thankful for, since the concept's interior while looking very nice, wasn't very functional. ie hard to read gauges) it's almost identical to the concept. Very nice.
I've always loved F-Bodies and it's nice to see one of them come back. But for some reason I still like the Challenger better.
On a side note: I just noticed that the turn signal lever looks almost identical to the one in my 89 Firebird.

It's going to sell like hotcakes no matter what the price of gas is. Well done General, you've made an excellent grand tourer.

Personally, I hope the car comes in some of the original 1967 colors . . . in particular, "Plum" which had a "Parchment" (off white) interior. It looked surprisingly cool.
