This much we know. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will have some sort of Corvette concept portraying one of the Autobots (well, we assume it's an Autobot). We also now know that there are at least two movie cars, as you can see in the shot above. Do we officially know that these are Corvettes of some sort? No, but the fender shapes, split rear window, and the port aft of the front wheel are familial styling cues that seal the deal. We're dying to know if this is just a movie creation or a concept that's in the pipeline to be revealed publicly at some future time. And if this forecasts what we should expect in terms of a C7, well, we're okay with that, too.
Also snagged in this photo set: the Chevy Beat and Trax, a military-style dune buggy, a pair of Can-Am Spyders, Optimus Prime, and Ratchet. Thanks, Andrew!

The new Stingray?

From Jalopnik after the first photo surfaced:
"The vehicle in the picture is a corvette built for the movie by a company called DST. There are two of them on set. It's a brilliant design of retro sytling consisting of gull wing doors and a split window fast back similar to the 1963 model. I have been all over the car and have many upclose pics which I obviously can't release for legal reasons however I will answer questions."
"The vette will actually be built for 2012. The production model will be exactly how you see it in the movie next June. "
Take it or leave it, FWIW

I love being right.

All I know is that whatever it is it sure is ugly! Chevy is missing a great opportunity to introduce the Beat after this movie comes out if it is anywhere near the blockbuster the first one was.
Ben @ Jul 16th 2008 3:09PM
Yeah..I want the Beat after seeing the Vette..lol

Those are gigantic wheel arches. It looks a bit like its diecast plastic, but I like it other than those wheel arches.
ALEXDB9 @ Jul 16th 2008 2:58PM
Wish it could hit showrooms like it is. Looks awesome.
Randy @ Jul 16th 2008 3:14PM
Tell me about it! For all that say "ugly" I say "AWESOME"

I wish.
Toy Yoda @ Jul 17th 2008 3:09AM
No, it's the "Corvoltte."
Benfolio @ Jul 16th 2008 3:03PM
Close, everyone.
It's the new Chevette.
HotRodzNKustoms @ Jul 16th 2008 3:03PM
If that is a concept it's at about a level 11 on the outrageous scale and for production would need to be toned down to at least a 7

If the Beat is going to be in the movie, why isn't GM going to sell it in the US?!

He's probably Bumblebee's cousin from overseas or something. They'll kick him out because he doesn't meet US crash regs for autonomous morphing automobiles, or something.
Kumail @ Jul 16th 2008 6:23PM
i have no idea why they cancelled it, it would've done well against the fit, but i really like those bikes.
EXP Jawa @ Jul 16th 2008 3:07PM
Looks like they used as many vintage Corvette cues as possible - split window from the '63, grill work from a C1, fenders from a C3 and the roofline profile from a current car. Some of it works, some not so much.
The military-like buggy: maybe Hound?
