GM's Wagoner to elaborate on business plan tomorrow
General Motors honcho, Rick Wagoner, is holding a 9AM (EST) news conference tomorrow at which he will make an announcement (or announcements?) on what changes the automaker will make as it adjusts to current market conditions. GM's press release has no details beyond that. So, what are we going to hear? The fact that GM is being so nebulous leads us to believe that this will be a significant announcement. Is a brand getting killed? Could we hear of a particular vehicle line getting scrapped? Are there going to be more closings? Will we hear that something new is getting greenlit, like the Chevy Beat? This should be very interesting, and we'll have the news for you tomorrow as soon as it happens. So, what do you think the big presser's about? Weigh in below and see how right (or wrong) you are tomorrow.

Let me be the first to say that I can feel that there is going to be some anger against Hummer on this thread.
I personally like Hummer. If you don't like them, DON'T BUY ONE- IT'S THAT FRICKIN SIMPLE!
Don't kill Hummer. Just use them as Military vehicles-their original destiny.
Or there's some other things you can do with a Hummer.....MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

No one is buying them, at least not in the US...

I don't know about that. My neighbor just bought his 2nd H3. I just bought my 2nd Tahoe (it's hard keeping up with Hummer owners! LOL!!)

Saab used to be delightfully quirky car company. The 900 I remember was an off beat hatchback, really in a class all it's own. And the 99??? HELLO, CAN WE SAY SOCCER BALL WHEELS!!! Don't get rid of Saab, just return it to the non-traditional values it used to operate by...

Detroit teevee said that all the salaried personnel at the RenCen were asked to submit resumes. Can assume this means they'll be vying for the soon-to-be fewer jobs.

If this guy says the wrong things in the morning, the market is going to tank. Good by 401K's middle America.

Seriously, do we really need a Rainier, Trail Blazer, Envoy, Ascender, Bravada, AND 9-7X??? I think not... Granted we don't have all these offerings anymore, we DID at one point. It's completely unnecessary! Thinking like that is what I believe got GM into this pickle.
And yes I do think Hummer is a joke, I would LOVE to see it get cut. The vehicle serves a purpose and that is fine. But the people that actually buy one will never use it FOR that intended purpose. So until the Average American Consumer stops shopping to compensate for smaller things, lets just give Hummer the axe and save the Miata and Metro drivers from certain death.

Filing for C11.
But probably not.
Hopefully it's something along the line of his resignation and closing every brand except Chevrolet and Cadillac.
But probably not.
Whatever "decisive" action he announces it will probably be too little, too late and too many years too late.

Its sad to see people coming around to the fact that the GM we now know is done. People will read how decades of mismanagement were responsible for its downfall. Hopefully the volt is a viable concept and it sees production even if GM isn't around to see it. Too bad the taxpayer will get stuck with the billions in liabilities. Privatize the profits socialize the losses...
