Less than two months after Jaguar XF-R spy shots (followed by a second set) emerged, our man on the ground at the Goodwood Festival of Speed spotted the real thing doing double-time in front of the crowd. He was quick enough to snap five good shots of the fast cat at speed. Power is speculated to be in the 500 hp range, courtesy of a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. Riding on performance rubber wrapped around 20-inch wheels, the sleek sedan will be sure to sink claws into its German rivals when it rolls into showrooms next year.

Sort of looks a bit like a Buick\Lexus\Mercedes mix, I don't see much Jaguar on there, you?
2004m3driver @ Jul 12th 2008 3:23PM
I see a big honking Jaguar decal.
Artie Lange @ Jul 12th 2008 8:36AM
Looks cheap and unrefined. The only thing Europeans know how to do is put a big, inefficient motor into a car that can only go fast in a straight line.
In case you didn't catch it, my European friends, that's what's we call in America "sarcasm".
On a more serious note, that Tata, er, I mean, Jaguar's design is seriously uninspired. Have they started to outsource the design department to India already?
homunculus @ Jul 12th 2008 9:33AM
You besmirch the good name of Artie Lange.
Limey @ Jul 12th 2008 9:37AM
You yanks (Not all, mainly ARTIE up there, who seems to have some vendetta against the UK and the rest of Europe) need to seriously shut up, sit back and read a book. Neither Jag or Landy have had any input from Tata design wise yet, so why would you even put that in your comment. Oh, and if you look at where Jag was about a 1/2 years ago you would see that the XF is a pure success story as will be the XF-R. Their new design language is great, its young, fresh and understated, unlike the Americans brash, inyourface styling.
Tell me, how many American motors feature square or round lights... Anyway, you talk to us about large inefficient motors....
WOB-379 @ Jul 12th 2008 10:31AM
If by cheap looking, you mean made out of real steel, then sure.
The Doctor @ Jul 12th 2008 11:47AM
Artie, chill out and have a Bud, even if it is made by the Belgians and Brazilians.
Chase @ Jul 13th 2008 12:58PM
Oh, an' dat is a spicy meat-a-ball-a
Terry @ Jul 12th 2008 10:44AM
As close as to production as that model is I'm pretty sure Jag will "pretty up" the final model come official release time. I'm presuming that includes a cleaner grill a nicer rims, and not so sinister looking as the one you see here. This car was obviously at this event to give a hint of its performance abilities, not it's looks.
Nick @ Jul 12th 2008 11:00AM
It would do Jag good to find a matte or body colored window trim pieces. The chrome window trim sticks out like a sore thumb on the all black car like that.
Love this car. Let the anti-globalization whiners do their usual (but Jaguar is owned by X OMG WTF they suck)
Cameron @ Jul 12th 2008 3:01PM
I totally agree about the trim, but unfortunately for most luxury buyers shiny = fancy.
2004m3driver @ Jul 12th 2008 3:20PM
Yeah, thank god they did that for the E46 though. They just gave us plain black plastic :) and left the chrome for the 330.
Duders @ Jul 13th 2008 2:09AM
If the xf-r is the equivalent to what the old R models were in the jaguar line then the chrome trim pieces will be black. The old s-type r looked badass in black on black with the chrome trim pieces. I'm sure that theme will be continued with the xf-r
ricotubbs @ Jul 12th 2008 11:24AM
Word on the street is that the large, silver Jaguar graphic seen on both sides WILL make it into production. This will be the first of many Jaguars utilizing this bold new design direction. Remember, you heard it here first.
CarbonBlack @ Jul 12th 2008 1:12PM
I would actually like the graphic to make it to production!
IMF @ Jul 12th 2008 1:19PM
I'm sure you must be joking. There is no way a Jag goes on sell with a logo came from a ricer shop catalogue.
azzo45 @ Jul 13th 2008 4:06PM
Ricer? Never saw a Jag do the drifting scene...
...have seen the oversized, leaping car on the side of many of their race cars... just like oversized rings on Audi race cars & I've seen street applications (read subtle) for that graphics treatment too.
Would I want it on my Jaguar... no, but not "ricer" either
Zane @ Jul 12th 2008 5:13PM
Given the massive number of plain jane XFs on the roads out here (I see two or three almost everyday), I wouldn't be surprised if the XF-R were to become another hit for the men from Coventry.
Mobius_1 @ Jul 12th 2008 9:25PM
I still don't really like those lights... But the rest of the car is fantastic, and that interior oozes class.
Richard @ Jul 12th 2008 10:30PM
Nice car, perhaps.
Too bad it looks nothing like a Jaguar.
Maybe better looking in BRG.
