Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8.

For those of you desperately waiting for the next batch of Dodge Challenger SRT8s to be built after the announcement that the first 6,400 2008 models were already spoken for, fret not, supply is on your side. The Detroit News is reporting that while the majority of limited edition SRT8s were already sold before they were built, about one-quarter of the Challengers were set aside for dealer orders.

Several retailers across the U.S. have between two and twenty Challengers sitting on the lot, with one dealer advertising in Michigan's Macomb Daily that nine Brilliant Black, eight Hemi Orange and two Silver Metallic HEMI-powered coupes are available for the taking. Naturally, supply is dependent on where you live. One dealer in Naples, Florida sold out all eight Challengers in three days, while others have only sold only one out of their allotment. And just because you can find one, doesn't mean it will be selling for sticker. Markups are to be expected, with one dealer charging $45,145 – or about $7,000 – above the SRT8's MSRP.

As of this past monday there was an awesome black one sitting on the lot of a local Dodge Dealer in North Jersey. Right in front, for sale - I didn't catch the price. I'm pretty sure it's the only one they have.
$7000 over M.S.R.P. ---- P.T. Barnum ("there is a sucker born every minute") would love it. Seriously, who in their right mind????? for a Dodge????
What's even more hilarious is that this is news. Gas is $4 a gallon and rising, and somehow it's a surprise that v8, fuel sucking 3800lb pigs are 'available'. No crap.

They're available because they aren't in high demand right now. Are they attractive? Sure. But they're not in high demand.
        hahah, tuck in your shirt
Tuck in your skirt, your bias is showing.
There are also plenty of suckers paying $7000 for Geo Metros that are only worth $2000 because $4 gas has caused there brain to be stuck on stupid.

Whether paying $7K over sticker for a gas sucking pig that will be thousands under sticker in a year or two or paying $7K for a beer can car to save $50 a month in gas, there is enough stupidity to be spread around nowadays.
I don't understand, TJ. What bias is showing?

Who on earth would pay $7,000 over MSRP for a Dodge?! Would you pay $7,000 over MSRP for a Honda? I bet you wouldn't!
        Aw, I see your point.

However, going along with the Bias thing... I wouldn't buy a limited edition Honda Civic Mugen for $7,000 over MSRP. lol
        • 6 Years Ago
Apparently not enough suckers or they wouldn't be sitting on lots.
        for a dodge? no.

For one of the initial run of a limited edition, high performance muscle car? yep. And many people have.
Saw Vanishing Point a while back, and I really wanted to have this car on a huge road trip across America (without the cops, obviously)
What seems to have escaped you is a brain... or better yet sale trends. We're not talking about Ford, we're talking about Chrysler, remember when the PT Cruiser was suppose to be a limited run model??

Grow up before you attempt at posting again.
How long have you been on Autoblog?? How many times have you seen someone complain about the "reply" feature??

Yes, go back to using your brain, genius!!
way to address the absurdity of your original post.... I'm done with you and this go-nowhere conversation.
and what escapes you is how to 'Reply'.

I still do not see your point. An SRT model is FAR from a PT cruiser, and the comparison of an SRT to a Shelby and SXT vs Base between ChryCo and Ford is valid.

well, back to using my brain some more....

7k, is nothing compared to the mark ups done on shelby cobras in the last year or two.
People were shelling out 60 grand for cars that cost mid 40's.
Which finally seems to be coming to an end. Looks like in the past couple months prices on new or like new shelbys has fallen into the 40's, instead of 60's.
It will only be a matter of time before they are sticker or below.
Anyone that pays over sticker for a car is an idiot, prices eventually fall, just be patient.
I can't imagine being that far upside down on a car payement because i had to have it NOW.
They're only an idiot for buying it if they can't afford it. Being one of the first to own the car and drive it on the road is worth something to some people. Especially with a car that will be diluted on the roads with low end versions.

      Here's a dealership with a $15,000 market adjustment!
Yes, it says "this car was specifically built for" and then the name. Oddly enough, someone else will get my name, this one came into the dealer early for the owner and he offered it to me. Its neat, but in the top right corner, you sort of have to look for it.
700 miles on mine and loving every minute of it. I normally would not pay so much over sticker, but I wanted this car in particular. I also got it fairly early. It draws a ton of attention and everyone literally loves this car that I talk to. Good times.

Sometimes you just have to step down a few notches to talk in a way the small minded will understand....

20 year old junk? Yeah. Right. Total junk, that's why my car was featured on Autoblog. Sure is a piece of junk.

        http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/02/reader-ride-1992-subaru-svx/

PS: You've attacked me, belittled my car, and tried to insult me as much as possible. Such a good christian...
It was fairly easy to get cause you're a sucker.
15k over sticker was no big deal, sorry you ned to roll your change and insult others to make yourself feel better. Get a second job.
15k over invoice? More money than brains. I hope you still post here in a few years so I can make fun of your horrid resale value.
Being bitter seems more common from my seat. I also own a Honda Civic as my main driver, yet you continue to ignore that in any thread relating to my low mileage toys, so apparently poor and stupid go hand and hand commonly as well.
I've looked at pictures of your 20 year old junk Vintage. All your cars added up aren't even worth the gas guzzler tax on the guy's Challenger
        • 6 Years Ago
"Sometimes you just have to step down a few notches to talk in a way the small minded will understand."

No kidding. Us IT geeks call that "Backwards Compatible" - seems the only way to get through today's thick skulls.
Again, its my money, but I expect that from you Vintage. I love automobiles, I own 5 cars, 2 motorcycles, 2 jet skis and a Segway. I could care less about resale my silly boy.

I noticed your making comments about a 3800 pound gas guzzler a few posts back while your still driving a 3600 pound gas guzzler yourself. Its get 15-18 per official specs, not what you claim. Hypocrite. You should change your icon so its not so obvious :)
:) ha ha... dopey dealers. With gas prices floating at $4 and theatening to maybe hit $5 before year end, they're going to charge a "premium" for a guzzler.. NICE !!!!
my local dodge dealer has two in stock and they are selling for 47 and 48 thousand dollars
      • 6 Years Ago
Every time I look at this vehicle I get the impression that the outside is all plastic and not metal.
Maybe because the stripes are like Matte Black and resemble the sheen of plastic. That's just my take.
