VIDEO: New BMW 750Li and 730d out for beauty shots

Hit the jump for video of the 2009 BMW 7-Series
The new BMW 7 Series has undergone a makeover, with less polarizing looks and a healthy dose of Concept CS all around. It has only been a couple days since we got our first official eyeful of the new Bavarian top dog, and now we've got video of the 750i and 730d. Hit the jump to seeand hear the oil and petrol powered Bimmers as they tackle the twisties and pose for the cameras. There is no soundtrack, no fancy graphics, just the redone 7 Series. Enjoy!

Hard to take beauty shots with such an ugly subject.

Ugly indeed. The front end design is so awkward, its like the car saw something really ugly and went "Ughhhhhh" and BMW froze it's expression right there and called it their new design.

I'm somewhat of a bmw fanboy, but I have to agree with you
this new design is extremely bland

I'm surprised you say "bland." But it is, actually rather bland in parts. Before this redesign, the 7 series was more simple and yet it never looked bland at all.
I would have never thought that the 1 series design was foreshadowing the future design of the 7. I'm very disappointed. Darn...

You call the current generation 7 a 'simple' design?!?!
Yeah sure, the front end is a blunt mess due to European regulations causes; but compared to the dovetail Bangle end, I'd take this in a heartbeat.

I find this car very ugly

I dunno, but I geuss to be a bmw lover you just have to love this car design, it screams bmw, it screams classic. I love the E39, and I mean love. This is the perfect extension of it.

don't get me wrong, I love this car, especially the inside. But does anybody else see shades of Volvo? its not a bad thing but its also not a good thing

I do... Around the hood. The lines in the design are too exaggerated.

Ditto

No freaking way, for some reason when I was watching the video I just thought, "Volvo already did this, and they did a much better job."
I can't pin down any areas where it looks like the volvo, but I can't shake the feeling it was the inspiration. Whatever, Volvos look nicer than this.

Ladies and gents I present the german 460LS..oops new 7 Series. In college I would have been thrown out for plagerism.

In college, you would learn how to spell plagiarism.

It's an improvement over the last design, but still not an attractive vehicle.
Darrell - agreed. It looks like a watered down interpretation of the Volvo front clip, and it's worse for the changes.

There really is nothing to applaud this car for, in terms of design. I can only describe this new 7 Series as evolution that took a downward step from the previous version.
The gigantic kidneys make the car look desperately antagonistic while, awkwardly, the front end comes off as anonymous at the same time. The side profile is nothing to speak of. In fact, on the side profile, the rear emanates cues from the new Corolla.
BMW has enough of a reputation that it will sell just about anything with four doors attached to it. Yet this rendition is not worthy of the 7 Series badge, in my opinion.

I do like it better moving. However, it just doesn't seem like the top of the line BMW. The current 7-series, agree with its looks or not, has the feeling it is the top of the line, but this new one just doesn't seem to have that.

It wasn't a bad design until I saw the video ... that front end is awkward. Is it just me or have there been very few exciting model releases recently? Alot of new cars have lost something ... and it's good looks. Is it the pedestrian crash regulations that are forcing all these awkward looking front ends ... like on this thing and the new Accord? What gives?

I saw the upcoming 7 series last summer at a product comparison sponsored by BMW and thought that they had hit the mark. It was much sportier than this finished version. The front-end was more reminiscent of the 3 series coupe and looked perfect. Now they have went and increased the kidney grill size and IMO f-ed it up. Do not like the front or rear one bit. Don't understand the design direction of this company.

I agree. I think the new S Class looks miles better, ditto the Audi S8
