I'm only laughing because I don't understand how the defense of themselves is anything more than 1 or 2 dimensional at best! They're on something that doesn't tip over yet has a person in an unstable platform in regards to their footing! They can't exactly swing around quickly to protect themselves, bystanders or each other!
The image in my head is a person standing on the back of train where the can shoot backwards, awkwardly to their sides but can't see the arsenal that' about blow them off the track. (i.e. near the front of the train).
I'd rather be on Healeys....

those things can actually go up to 20 mph. i would have one by know but they do cost quite a bit.

Your average human can only run for very short bursts at Segway speed, so for any chase that lasts longer than like a minute the Segway will catch up.
Plus the bullets will probably make up for any insane sprinting ability you may have.
To be honest though I don't really see how it makes that much sense to try to fire guns from a Segway. You goof up and the recoil sends you going backwards, lol.

It's just like at a shooting range - once police officer gets hit, he is knocked on the ground by the impact and then his corpse is bought up to an erected position by the magic of self-balancing Segway.
