SEMA Preview: Mopar supercharger for Dodge Challenger

Click above for a high-res gallery of the Dodge Challenger SRT-8.
Mopar can't let Speedfactory have all the fun supercharging the Dodge Challenger SRT-8, so when the SEMA show rolls around this November, the in-house tuners of all things pentastar will unveil a blown Challenger of their own.
The Mopar-modified SRT-8 will be fitted with all the show-going kit you'd expect at the world's largest aftermarket expo, including a cold-air intake, high-flow cat-back exhaust and a variety of wheel designs and sizes. The details of the blower are still unknown, but with Speedfactory boosting the 6.1-liter HEMI V8 from 425 to 630 hp with its Stage 2 mods, we'd suspect similar figures from the Mopar kit.

Perfect, especially if it does not void my warranty. An official supercharger like this is exactly what I will buy. Thanks Dodge!

Speedfactory boosting is quite good and that means that the car will be o very powerful car. Cost? Consumption? Other detail? Thanks.

I just realized the racing stripes are "carbon fiber look" rather than dark gray. Anybody seen these in person? How cheezy do they look?

I have seen this car twice, once in silver and once in orange. The stripes don't look cheesy at all imho.

Fuel crisis be damned!! :D
I assume that these kits would work on non-Challenger HEMI's - although I'm sure it would certainly be un-supported. Now can they make an in-house system for the 5.7 cars?

Fuel crisis?
No it is a dollar crisis.

So what does this add, about 5-6k to the cost, thinking most just the supercharger as you can spend 3k on wheels alone if you wanted to?

I approve.
That is until the LSA Camaro debuts.

I love how every photo of the challenger features a tire-shredding, plume-of-smoke takeoff. I'm just picturing this middle-aged, fairly fat man staring at the family in the minivan beside him at a stoplight after a huge burnout, thinking he's king of the road. Jeff Foxworthy eat your heart out!

Well, since it is based on a 30+ year old car and called a tire smoker, not really a car for drag or track racing really, then thank you, I fit your description minus the fat since I was doing a burnout for a couple in a mini van at a light just yesterday, lol. Good times :)

630hp is badass. No doubt. But I'd be interested to see how they get that power to the ground--especially with the stock 245 section tires.

Six hundred thirty horsepower? Why that's outrageous!
But I like it!!!

Is this car out yet? If not, why did I see someone driving one in front of me near Downtown Miami?
Looked good, btw.

It is out, Silver, Black and Hemi Orange. Mine is #1516 I got it last Friday, so one can guess that 2500 or more have been made and are on the way. July 18th was last known date for end production on the 08's at which point 09's begin and ahould be appearing in September.

I'd like to see something like that and not only see but also to test.Is someone who knows something about the price? The black one look awesome.
