Get out the popcorn: new Lincoln MKS mini-movie coming

Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2009 Lincoln MKS.
The all-new MKS is a very big deal for Lincoln, and with 10,000 pre-orders already in the books, the Blue Oval's domestic luxury arm just may have a hit on its hands. To keep a steady flow of information to potential customers, Lincoln is planning a multimedia onslaught for print, web, and TV, and it has even put together a three-minute mini movie to help generate interest. The spot, "Mad, Crazy Love," has been created to draw interest from African American customers between the ages of 30-45. Lincoln has also created 15 and 30 second teasers for the spot, and it plans to run the ads during the Black Entertainment Television Awards pre-show. Once the ads begin to air on the networks, Lincoln will also have the spot on Lincoln.com so interested parties can see more.
While we're very interested to see the spot for ourselves, the ultra-long infomersials tend to be painful to watch more than once, and the acting usually isn't all that great, either. Lets hope Ford doesn't jam this one down our collective throats, even if it actually is pretty good.

The BET awards were Tuesday of this week -- this commerical has already aired.
I caught a bit of it and it was certainly nothing special. The kids overflowing the washing machine in the garage with bubbles was pretty cheesy though.

I saw it too. It was so long and it kinda sucked. If anything, it should been about a condom commercial.

Would have made a nice Mercury instead of a Lincoln. Lincoln could have then gone upmarket and competed with Cadillac.

"with 10,000 pre-orders already in the books, the Blue Oval's domestic luxury arm just may have a hit on its hands. "
Not bad for a vehicle that is only a fancied up Taurus according to all the "nattering nabobs of negativity" who posted here.

"Nabobs?" Really? Royal Governors of India, or persons of prominence and riches?
Thank you.

I'm pulling for Lincoln, but lets admit it, they'll screw it up... They are a national embarrassment.

Nick... that is a pretty broad statement "national embarassment?"
Perhaps you could illuminate your thinking for us.
Lincoln has ranked well above industry average in vehicle initial quality, vehicle dependability, and service for decades. Take a look at J.D.Powers or any other survey. Have they had some design issues? You Bet! Are the vehicles they produce solid engineering? You bet! For their price point Lincoln vehicles are among the best available in the market.
Of course the triumph of style over substance always works when selling to the American public.

Yeeks, baffledu...u really think Lincoln with its rag-tag lineup of pseudo-Fords (albeit with good quality) is a contender in the luxury car arena?

Nick,
I am a Sales Rep for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury and I nerver heard about Lincoln being an embarrasment

Gregg ... FYI as recently as the late 90's Lincoln outsold Cadillac. They haven't offered a factory "rag top" since the mid 90's. Did Lincoln run it's body styles way to long? you bet? Was the Continental a great looking car for its era? Yes! The Town Car is still a great cruiser just looks like something out of the 60"s is primarily a fleet car now and is going away after 2009. How about the Mark VIII for looks or the L.S. ???? MKZ sells out factory capacity. MKX best selling luxury crossover. MKS going to be a great car for Lincoln.
Does Lincoln have an image problem? Yup! Is it deserved? Not so much!

DRFS Rich: I think he meant Nabobs in a tongue-in-cheek way, much like we American's refer to dinky, barely legitimate, western-hemisphere governments as "banana republics". In other words, sarcasm with a twist and little bite.
Oh, I see you took the bait.

(psst. it's LS not "L.S.", just like this is MKS not "M.K.S.")
I can attest to the better than average engineering and construction quality of my two Lincoln LS's (moreso with the 2003+ because of the redesign which fixed many of the flaws in the original v1 like my 02).
However, rebadged Ford products (Fusion->MKZ, 500/Taurus->MKS) does not a Lincoln make. Hence why I jumped ship to Cadillac ('06 CTS-V: Vvvrrrooom!) and wince when I take a peek at what Lincoln is doing "these days".

Come on, lets be real, the 90's are almost a decade gone at this point! Lincoln = Mercury. It's Fords with badges and we don't need no stinking badges.. Lincoln has no balls left in their company.

Wow, you must be like 8 years old...
But seriously, good advertising is very important these days. The 2008 Taurus didn't really sell until people were starting to hear about it. Sales are just now picking up. I hope the MKS is a great turning-point for Lincoln. The MKX is great and beautiful crossover. The MKZ isn't really ready to take on the competition, but it's still a nice car (except from the rear if you know what I mean.) I hope the facelift will make it a whole lot better and somewhat less-fusion.

10,000 pre-orders? That is unbelievable.. I don't think very many of you are putting that into perspective. Then new Jag XF only had 5000, and sold just over a K in it's first month.
