Cadillac CTS wagon coming in 2009, production Provoq in 2010

Cadillac's product onslaught will continue with another iteration of the CTS that takes aim at the Kraut-wagons from Mercedes and BMW. The CTS wagon will debut in 2009 and will be sold worldwide, and it's expected that the CTS coupe will debut later that year.
As expected, the Provoq concept will replace the SRX in 2010 and will ditch its predecessor's Sigma underpinnings and utilize a new platform created by blending the Theta and Epsilon architectures. Power will be provided by a V6 and Cadillac's general manager, Jim Taylor, expects annual sales to land somewhere between 60,000 and 70,000 units.

Wow, can't wait to see one of these wagons on the road. That profile reminds me a lot of the Magnum, only this one will have a better interior and hopefully a stick.

A wagon? Meh.

Why meh? You could still buy the sedan, or the impractical coupe if you don't like wagons. Are you in the market for a CTS-class car and now going to pass because they will OFFER a wagon? Or do you just think everyone should drive what you approve of?

Nice to see Wagons making a comeback.

I wish GM would also focus on making their existing products better.

I would rather see thousands of these proper wagon (crossovers? LOL, marketing double speak) on the street than a bunch of suvs.

Oh my GOD !!!! The return of the station wagon. Funny how the minivan almost killed them during their 20 year run from the mid 80's, but now with fuel prices high, the station wagons are making a comeback. Ah, the days of sitting in the third row and facing the back, watching the scenery and time go by...

A a replacement for my Legacy Wagon...hope they bring out a V series :)
That may prompt Subaru to bring back the Legacy GT and/or BMW to do the 335i Wagon here!

Yes, here's to hoping Subaru brings back the Legacy Wagon.
Unfortunately they're saying no more wagons, with the Legacy being only sedans. One has to wonder if they're trying to funnel people to the Tribeca based on a 4 year old suv-based mindset.
Smaller suvs and wagons are back in. Not because people really like them (though many do), but because it's more likely that this will be a primary or sole family car that will need to perform multiple duties while maximizing gas mileage.
I would buy a Legacy Wagon diesel, but probably not the outback version. In that respect, hopefully the wagon in the article comes diesel ready...

a new CTS-V wagon......I would realy realy really realy want that. a innocent wagon that can kill an 09 bmw M3,eat a Shelby GT500,strangle a Magnum Srt-8, My friends this would be a Luxury Ass-kicking Utility Vehicle.

I hate that they have supposedly cancelled the convertible but are bringing the wagon instead. I just don't think it will sell in suffecient numbers to warrant it being offered. The new SRX will need to be an excellent product for Cadillac's survival and if it is that good, I think the wagon will be extraneous.

Props to Cadillac if they actually call it a 'wagon', and don't go to the idiotic lengths to create a new, hip acronym like USLAV - the new "Ultimate Sports Lifestyle Activity Vehicle"...aka, "I'm making up for something". Take off the mask and show it for what it is. Wagons are a solid piece of family-hauling greatness, but will it pick up 70,000 car shoppers a year? That's a whole lot of cards on the table for a Cadillac Station Wagon.

Do they forget that Audi, too, makes wagons? S4 and RS4 Avants are no slouches - even if it is rumored that the S4 Avant will no longer be sold in the US, and the RS4 Avant never has - BOO Audi of America.

I love to see a troubled carmaker making good decisions. Thousands of X5 and ML-Class owners will be looking to downsize over the next few years, and now they'll have a reason to shop GM.

"The German word Kraut when standing alone in English is used most frequently as a slur against German people. Kraut is also used as an abbreviation for the traditional German food, sauerkraut."
Did you mean it as a slur or a description of the food?

I think they should have just ended the sentence right there. :-D
OK, seriously, this looks like it could be really cool, and I love the idea of the Cadillac Wagon that they never dared build before. But if that profile is too Magnum-like, I'm probably not going to like it.
