NSX mule dimensions figured with PhotoShop
Who needs Blade Runner technology to get the details in a photo when you've got Photoshop? The folks over at Temple of VTEC have gleaned the dimensions of the Acura NSX mule by starting with the widths of a German license plate and the Honda S2000 door. The mule appears to be shorter, but taller and wider than the previous NSX, with a longer wheelbase. VTEC also has a chart comparing the estimated dimensions with those of the Nissan GT-R, Porsche GT2, and Corvette Z06. While the exact measurements could be slightly off, they should fit together in relation to each other. We expect that in design and dimension the mule's bodywork has little to do with the final NSX -- but we probably have a year and change before we find out... Thanks for the tip, Eugene![Source: Temple of VTEC]

why not the LS2LS7? 6:09PM (6/21/2008)
It's such a shame this ordinary-looking car shares a name with the NSX, which was striking and exotic.

We don't know the name of the car. Therefore if you find blame, point at the media for calling it what it's probably not.
@ Crowbar,
I think it does. But then, I think the Vanquish is one of the most beautiful modern automobiles, so I can't really say flattery by imitation is a bad thing. Could be worse; imagine had they used an Aztec. *shiver*

I didn't blame anyone, merely expressing sadness.
And it's Aztek, not Aztec.

Almost all professionally designed MR cars share a similar look because they all follow the same basic principle (by professional, I mean something that ain't a kit car from somebody's garage). I've always loved the NSX, but it was pretty minimalist in its design, by way of form following function. Since practically every (not all) MR cars are designed this way, they're considered "exotic", but it's primarily because they're compared to a Ferrari or Lamborghini. There have been some pretty ugly MRs, but they're really not that hard to make "exotic" looking. Even the $25K Toyota MR-Spyder "looked" the part, although its engine never really backed it up.
On the flipside, the Vanquish, despite being a GT, looks exotic. So does the Rapide. Even the ZR1 looks pretty exotic next to a regular base model 'Vette. I don't personally think Porsche's look what they cost, but, eh, that's just me. Either way, I reserve judgement considering this mule is still pretty much all covered up.
By the way, the "k" in Aztek doesn't help it look any better. :p lol

Anyone else think this looks a lot like a vanquish?

This is a horrible car, even for a mule or propotype.
I hope this will not end with a ASCC.
Loved the HSC concept....

Well, the point of mules and prototypes is to make sure the final real production car which people actually buy isn't crap, and EVEN this mule seems to be one heck of a performer

Looks like the 350Z and/or an Aston Martin.

"We expect that in design and dimension the mule's bodywork has little to do with the final NSX"
i doubt, cause mule has too many visually obscuring elements on it's surface

I agree. I dunno why everybody seems so critical... and I admit I was very critical at first also, but after paying close attention I realized that may be very far from production spec. My suspicions are even confirmed further with TOV confirming that the doors & wheels are from the S2K... it's just an odd jigsaw puzzle of parts. I really hope the final design is much better. It seems the mechanical bits are on the right track... 7:30s on the 'Ring is nothing to sneeze at.

"NSX mule dimensions figured with PhotoShop"
Yeah, sure.
To come up with 21.5" for the rims, I don't think so.
And I doubt in motion shots show the car at a perfect angle.
Seriously, it would need a lot more time than it took to figure it out.

Wheels are sized by the diameter of their bead mounting surface, not the lip diameter.
These could easily be a set of 18-19-20" rims when you take the assumption that the method used isn't going to be exact.

Honda would be foolish to scrap the original NSX body style in order to ape the Nissan 350z look of this mule.

Does anyone think this just looks like an updated 300ZX?not 350Z... I am sure it's going to be a great car, but come on engineers!

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today when I passed an all black 300zx. This next NSX looks like a bloated 300zx on steroids...which is OK with me because the 300zx is still one of the best looking sportscars of the last two decades.

It reminded me more of the Supra twin turbo. Maybe a Supra crossed with a DB9 or a Nissan GT-R.

How the heck do ppl give a verdict on the aesthetics of the car when it's completely covered in camo panels and camo patterns? Ugh, the collective stupidity of the internet. While I don't think it's a simple mule, you can't tell anything from those pics.
And I don't see how that's an S2000 door. The S2k isn't as sharply raked as this door.

Nvm about the door, I find vtec.net's use of "this" to be inaccurate. Should've been "that" mule, meaning this door isn't at all the S2k.
I don't even think it's a mule. A mule wouldn't have distinctive door shapes, body lines (that TL line through the door), dash, etc. It's the full-blown car covered in camo. But since it has until 2010, it can definitely change a bit.
