Chevy Trax concept joins Beat on TF2 set

We knew the Chevy Beat was making an appearance in the overly-named Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The new news is that one of its "triplet" siblings, the Chevy Trax concept, is joining it, as you can see above. The two are chasing/following Bumblebee on Philadelphia's JFK Boulevard. Proof of GM's new commitment to building more smaller, fuel-efficient cars, you ask? Eh, well, as you may remember, Trax and the third triplet, Groove, were not slated for production like the Beat, so this is (unfortunately) probably just a movie special. At least one Autoblogger is happy, though (raises hand), because Trax is the one he voted for last year. Transformers Live Action Movie Blog wonders if the Beat and Trax might be portraying the Autobot "Twins" in the sequel. Sacrilege? Well, if the movie Bumblebee can be a Camaro instead of a VW beetle, there's no reason Sideswipe and Sunstreaker can't be Chevy-branded "world cars" instead of twin Countaches. If that turns out to be the case, though, it does kinda make one wish Lambo paid to be part of Michael Bay's party instead of Batman.

I am right there with you Alex. The Trax was my favorite. The e4WD like the cube is cool. I think since it is a little SUV that they should offer a 4 door and a 2 door convertible.
But I guess if they are only making one of the triplets it will be the Beat. I just don't get the Beat.

Agreed - the Trax looks much better in this photo than the Beat...although in the original GM photos when the contest was active, it didn't really seem this way to me. Wish I could take back my vote for Beat and give it to Trax. I'm digging the boxy roofline of the Trax over the overly curvy futuristic Beat roofline.

I picked the Beat, and I'd still pick the Beat over the Trax. But the Trax does look good here. GM is very fortune to have two very good-looking designs to select from (I didn't really like the third nearly as much).

Well, the good thing is, they're all based on the same architecture, so if people go nuts and demand the Trax after seeing it in the movie, it should be as production-feasible as the Beat, which is a done deal for other markets already.

I have seen them all in person and they all look great. Cars like this are really hard to photograph well. The Groove was matte finish.
I don't think the Trax is perfectly exicuted either but I love the idea of a small SUV for 4 that gets awesome gas milage.
That being said they had three solid designs but GM only had one runner and that was the Beat. I think they already knew what they were going to do.

hmm, this would make a little more sense than the rumor that the twins merge to form one old ice-cream truck! ;P

Can I change my vote to Trax? Wow, looks way better on the street than it did on the stage. I can say the opposite about the Beat. Make em both!

both look like they could be ready for duty on the streets with rising fuel prices i'm sure GM is on top of this as a way to rise sales they aren't making from trucks and SUV's.

Instead of f-ing around with silly non existent models for movies shouldn't GM be focusing on the real problems?? How much money and brain drain is there working with crap like this...You don't see Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Kia, Mercedes, BMW etc. wasting their talent on things with no ROI like this...

They already mentioned they're working on more fuel-efficient cars. Given that they showed these as concepts 12 months ago, you don't think they're already in process gearing up to make them?
Given how long movies take to make, I wouldn't be surprised if the the Beat or Trax is ready to go within the 3 months after the movie premiere (which is June, 2009).

Do you have ANY idea how much publicity the last move gave the new Camaro concept? I saw the movie in the theater twice and both times i overheard people say "Is that a new Camaro? Are they gonna make that?" So i really wouldnt call this "crap".....
dan spalinger 11:53AM (6/20/2008)
and the movie is a year old and where is the Camaro?? Oh..thats right...Its a classic shell game with GM...Oooo...look here at our shiny Camaro and our shiny Volt but please don't look at the fact that we're hemoraghing money and can't make a product people want...
Chris 12:12PM (6/20/2008)
riiiight. So i guess i didn't realize that you were a marketing genius, and an automotive manufacturing genius. You should work for a car company and tell them how to run things...you obviously know exactly how it should be done....

Chris, don't waste your time arguing with this GM-bashing, Nissan fanboy.

Who said this is Front Street? Its not at all. That is in front of City Hall on JFK Blvd with the Masonic Temple in the background. About 14 blocks from front street.
