We've seen a lot of stupid car dealer commercials in our time, but this one may well take the cake. The genius comics at The Daily Show found a local Dallas-area ad that features a Barack Obama impersonator hocking Kia Sorrentos for $11,888. So if you have a job and you have $199, you may want to hit the jump to see a lame commercial followed by the comedic stylings of one Jon Stewart. Funny stuff. Thanks for the tip, John!

That guy looks and sounds as much like Obama as, say, Lionel Richie does.

I guess if you're the kind of guy that thinks all black people look alike he might have a passing resemblance, but Obama has a deeper voice, with a different cadence and rhythm. And he's got a deeper skin tone and looks older. And I don't think he'd be the type to say "folks" in a sentence like in the commercial.

I live in Tunisia which is at the top of the African continent. From observing the USA from far away I have come to the conclusion that America goes in cycles.

1- The Democrats fix the economy and balance the budget and everyone in the country feels good about themselves

2- This feeling good leads to complacency and taking things for granted and they get tricked to vote Republican the next time around.

3- The Republicans then flush the country down the drain and the people get fed up and throw them out

4- The democrats come in again

You can run the cycle from 1 to 4 again and again and again
        • 7 Years Ago
        This is actually pretty apt.

Except for Carter's whole stagflation thing, and it's questionable that that was really his fault at all. Did a lot of good things with the Camp David Accords.

Then Reagan comes in and uses all the money he could get his hands on to beat the Soviets, even though Gorbachev was already trying to open up Russia (glasnost) fix it (perestroika) democratize it (demokratizatsiya) and financially repair it (uskoreniye). Then the U.S. refused to disarm along with Russia, another Republican idea. And if you call Republicans on it they say you're a mindless liberal retard, no matter how much education you have. And Bush comes in and pisses all over Carter's peace accords along with so-called liberals and supports Israel, apparently because Islamic people can't be trusted.

Nevermind, /rant. It's ironic that "Obama" would supposedly support Kia--among the most unreliable automakers around--after talking about how the "worst car Detroit ever built" was the Ford Granada. Next thing you know he'll be calling the Land Rover the epitome of reliability...
He's a horrible impersonator. On the politics side, let's keep this blog about cars, shall we? There's enough cynicism and nastiness in that subject line alone. Still, I can't help but wonder what country 'Steve' has been living in since 2000.

One of the few things Bush has fixed.

Which is somewhat ironic, since he doesn't seem to understand basic high school economics (Canadian standards

Obama makes Bush look like Einstein.

For God's sake, Obama was unaware that his OWN STATE: Illinois, borders Kentucky.

But, wait..the poor baby "hadn't had any sleep for 48 hours" when he said it. Right. What's that now, about the fourth time Obama has trotted out that lame excuse?
And don't forget the 57 states.

Now it's my turn to rant.
For those of you defending Carter, please tell the rest of us what kind of drugs you're on. That idiot will go down in history the worst presidents seconded only by Bush 43. The only noteworthy semi-accomplishment was the Camp David accord. Are most of you too young to remember double digit inflation? Or how about double digit unemployment? Or double digit interest? Or the first gas crisis? Or better yet, just take a look at his conduct as of late.
As for Bush 43, WOW what a moron. Just a shame we gave him a second term to screw up what he missed the first term.
And now comes Barak Hussein Obama. The one who single handedly set race relations in this country back thirty years. Yeah, I said it. If you don't support him, you're a racist. If you don't like what his wife says, or his association with the loud mouthed so-called American hating minister Wright, the aging terrorist, or the convicted felon Resco, you're a racist. If you think his policies are dead wrong, you're a racist. If you question his accomplishments in the Illinois senate or his short term in the US senate, or so much as dare to bring up the fact he voted "present" more than a yes or no, you're a racist. No matter what the reason or circumstance you vote against him, you'll be labled a racist.
He claims he's for the working man in this country and yet as I look down the street and gaze upon a massive 10,000 square foot home being built for the Reverend Wright, I can't help but remember how many times Obama visited the job site before the so-called anti-American Rev. Wright gained notoriety. The very house that Obama contributed over half a million in donations, and behold, NO black contractors were solicited for bids. And 95% of all workers on that house were and are illegal aliens. Not one black worker, and not one union worker, the people Obama claims to be behind.
I'm niether a democrat or republican, I tend to vote for qualifications, intellect and leadership qualification and Obama fits none of those.
Ten years ago or so Clinton vetoed the energy bill that would have allowed offshore drilling enmasse, and drilling in Anwar. If that bill would have been signed, the fruits of that labor would be flowing into our cars today decreasing dependence on the Mid-East and dramaticaly reducing the price of oil. Obama says if that bill is re-ignited, he too will veto it.
McCain may not be the best the gop has to offer, but he's no where near as bad a choice as Barak Hussein Obama.
Caddy I dont think you know your history well either.
Carter took over from a disgraced Republican 8 years. The Vietnam war made us go broke and the country was in pieces. Carter fixed it and right when things were turning around Reagan came in and trippled the national debt.

Yeah...I'm live in the Dallas area. Those commercials have been running for MONTHS now.

people, people. rsfourever's comment was funny. It's nothing personal, southerners being dumb is a funny stereotype. It can also be backed up with facts, but being a west-coaster, I'm too damn lazy to look them up.

Central Kia has been using impersonators for it seems 10 years or so.

rsfourever - No, that is the downside when I am trying to post at work and don't have time to proof read on breaks. Not to mention no edit options here on AB.

I will agree, Dallas is more of an East coast city (having grown up in one, I can make that comparison)...too many Smart Cars around here...LOL. But it does have a kick-@ss mass transit system. Personally I like Fort Worth better...BTW, I was born and raised in New York.

About the Bush comment..he was a much better governor than president..even the people here are wondering what happened.
rsfourever, is the education that much better in the north or northeast? Way to be a prick. Go be alone and have unrealised dreams of owning an actual RS4.

Who the hell do you think you are? How can you generalize the entire south by the comment of one person? People from the south aren't stupid; stop stereotyping you pompous ass. And someone from Dallas would not fit into the "hick" or "redneck" stereotype you are using to insult the entire south. Maybe you should actually meet some people from the south before you generalize them.
If anything, people from dallas seem to be a little more pompous and sterile from the texas culture than most cities (or so i was told by some students going to college there)

Texas has a pretty decent education system though, don't know what you are talking about...

I love the Daily Show. Jon Stewart and his team are very smart and talented. He would make a good president.
Thanks for your moronic rant Steve. Rest assured Americans wont let fear trick them into voting for another Republican administration. With fear you guys sold us 3 elections but no more.

Anyways, I can respect if someone is a conservative. Nothing wrong with that. But if you are a Republican than you need to give your head a shake. Republican is a party thats all and all it stands for now is greed, corruption, mismanagement and incompetence. If you are a conservative then you should be upset. If you are a Republican than you are the one that is brainwashed.
What are you smoking? Why would you want these liberal unamericans in the White House? Lefties have ruined our country and continue to do so. They just want to raise your taxes and have big government.
Too many brainwashed people like you may cause McCain to lose this fall. Just dont come crying when your taxes go through the roof and the terrorists blow up your town because Fraudama did nothing about it.
Ruining of this country happend in last 8 years under Bush and republicans.

Please wake up Steve and think about the future of American kids and American Infrastructure. We need to make this country stronger from inside.
LOL, Steve. After the nonamerican, imposter-Christians crapping on every ounce of goodwill America had, it will be nice to get the GOP out of the White House.

I love the fear card and your victim stance - when all else fails, blame "The Liberals". Hilarious stuff! You should seriously vote based on right-wing talking points. I'm sure that's the best way to choose a president.

Let me start off, Johnny, for apologizing for replying to your comment as sooooo many others have done, but I'm not responding to your claim that John Stewart would make an awesome president (though he would).

No, in fact, I'm responding to the idiots who only want to put fear into americans just so they can achieve their (and others) political ambitions. Barack Obama is not a Muslim. His father was from Kenya, and died when he was two. His (white) mother (an athiest) raised him with his (white) granparents in the most non-muslim of states, Hawaii. Yes, he did spend a couple years of his childhood in Indonesia, i believe, but why would that make him a muslim. Barack Obama, until recently, has gone to the same CHRISTIAN church for 20 years.

By the way, even if Obama was Muslim, which he obviously isn't, I would still vote for him. Why is it wrong for the president of the united states to be of any other religion than christianity when this country was founded on freedom of religion???? Barack Obama has done more to inspire this country than any person, politician or otherwise, since Bobby Kennedy and MLK.

You just lost all the credibility you had left for putting faith into Fox News.

I'll stick to neutral outlets (Reuters is usually doing a pretty good job, the CBC (French, the English crew folks always seem to be opiniative), etc).
Steve and geo.stewart, you two make Republicans look like racist and xenophobic morons. Quite frankly, you're just making it less likely anybody wants to be associated with a party filled with geniuses like yourselves who think adding HUSSEIN after Barack is a legitimate political argument.
And as a former Republican who joined the Republican party to support McCain (over Bush) in 2000, I'll gladly take the overly liberal whiners (and there are some) in my new party over xenophobic morons like you anyday.
Seriously, are you trying to convince people to vote for McCain by trying to stir up racism-fueled paranoia? Black liberation? Really? Are you guys really that f'ing stupid? You're not making Barack look bad because nobody with an IQ over 30 would believe this drivel. The only people who look bad when you spew stupid crap like this is Republicans.

A Kia dealership chain in Wisconsin, Russ Darrow, has been using a George Bush impersonator for a while now, as well.

Assumptions make you go far - keep defending a party which has been advocating the devaluation of your currency in favor of importation and crippling your personal economy to keep importation and domestic consumption going.

You don't lower interest rates when your economy's going to the sh*tter, it's basic economics ffs, yet the republicans have failed at it. You can argue as much as you want that there could be better than Obama, but there can't be worse than accepting idiocy and keeping republicans in the White House for another mandate.

Not adding more (Canadian) oil to the fire, so: in during sh*tstorm.

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area (thankfully in Fort Worth), and the Central Kia ads have been running forever.

Here's the thing. They aren't good - and I'd bet they don't work - without a terrible impersonation of Barack. They are even worse with one. Shame on Central Kia.

        Obama 08' FTW!
John McCain will cause himself to lose.
He doesnt' have a conservative bone in his body, that is why he is McBush, just another neocon.

and Obama, he is for cliché.

they are both bags of crap, not much of a choice.
I agree with you Geo and I gave you a thumbs up. But there are too many internationals on Autoblog leading to me , yar and you to lose the ranking wars.

Fine go ahead rank me down and put barack HUSSEIN obama in charge. Stop drinking the CNN lemonade and watch some Foxnews to get the truth. Of I forgot you internationals dont get the truth in your countries.
Ahh...Steve, I love how you portrayed Obama voters as people who "make McCain" lose, as if we only had one candidate. Like we wanted him to win in the first place.

As for the Hussein part, I think you'd probably say the same about McCain if another terrorist had his name. After all, why isn't there any outrage at Bush for having the name "George" when the English king who treated us like crap was also a George?
ahh, the smell of politics in the hot balmy air.

of course the summer heat will bring out all of the Democrat Hussein fans and the black liberation policy. Yes, lets vote in a Muslim with intentions to chat with terrorists, raise taxes, and decides the way to better America is to dump what the country stands for.

wonder why he is vague on details? either 1) he doenst have any or 2) he's going to pull a bait n switch.

""You've never not had sleep (does that even make sense? lol) for 48 hours, right?

Slips are possible when you talk so f*cking much anyway.""

During a National Security Crises, such as the Cuban missle crises, is the world going to stop and wait while the little baby Barrck has his nappy time?

If McCain had used such an excuse we'd have seen 24 hour coverage of it with shrill, breathless examinations of how much grave concern it raises about his ability to handle the demands of the oval office.

Dan Quayle was crucified for less.
Good point...Barrack has gotten away with LOTS of slip ups that would have torpedoed anyone else's campaign...GEE, I wonder why he got a pass??

Carter was a worthless president. If Ronny was so bad why did he get landslide victories? (49 states). Answer: He was what the country needed at the time.

As for rewriting history: Most Dems will NEVER admit that if Bush Sr. didn't raise taxes, Clinton would have NEVER been able to balance the budget, which, BTW..he didn't really. He had to count the Social(ist) Security surplus to claim a balanced budget....Now we get to watch the ultra-slow train wreck of Social Security because no one wants to fix the impending shortfall. ALL of Congress is hoping to ignore the problem until they are out of office.

As a true conservative (small government, small government over site, staying out of people's personal lives) I have no love for either party. They both suck, they are both full of crap. I really don't care what they do in the middle east, as long as they are willing to sell us oil. We are not the worlds police (thanks Clinton for setting THAT precedence).
