Pics Aplenty: 2009 Corvette Z06 gets new color and wheels

Yes, it's a slow news day, as many Fridays are. But who's going to complain about looking at new high-res photos of the 2009 Chevy Corvette Z06? Sure, it's not the ZR1, but it's still a damn fine car and for 2009 is getting a few tweaks that might be noteworthy to some. The first that's immediately evident is the Cyber Gray Metallic paint color, which is also joined by Blade Silver Metallic. With the deletion of Machine Sliver Metallic, the Z06 exterior color palette now stands at nine colors. Also new are 'spider'-design 10-spoke wheels exclusive to the Z06, and they look damn good framing those large rotors and red calipers. Less exciting is the new bright surround around the Corvette logo on the hood and redesigned Z06 sill plates, though owners of the '09 model will get a standard power hatch pull-down, Bluetooth as an option and the 10.5-quart dry sump oil system from the ZR1. There's some more new stuff in GM's own words after the jump, but we're too busy looking at the pics to tell you what they are.Gallery: 2009 Chevy Corvette Z06

Ah... love that color. Not so crazy about the rims.

Personally I dont like big engines that are supercharged so I would pass on the ZR1 and buy a ZO6 if I had the chance. I like the natural engine more and these mods make it even nicer than last years ZO6.

I went the opposite route and just got a Lotus Elise. There are just too many Corvettes around here to get any attention at all. Good cars and it was a close choice, but the Elise fits me more in a lot more aspects.
Cary 1:58AM (6/17/2008)
Yeah, the Elise would fit me as well, if I were 3'8". Unfortunately, I will have to choose the ZR1. Though it costs considerably more, I'm 6'6". So, I'll have to get over it. Oh wait, no. I'll have my 2006 SL65 instead. I let another poor soul take the $60k depreciation after putting 24k on it. A steal at $119k. Seriously though, considering a ZR1.

Well that's an interesting purchase criteria. Do you happen to live in LA (or So Cal)?
Johnny 2:40PM (6/14/2008)
No I live in Portland Oregon. I dont see the rationale behind an extra 20,000 for a ZR1 when the ZO6 is perfectly fine. As I said I dont like huge engines being supercharged. A 2 liter is ok. But the 7.0 ZO6 505hp is music to my ears.

Yeah.... the wheels look a lot better blurred by motion than standing still.
Also, what's with the off-center shift knob? Was that the same on other vettes? Is GM worried that the driver is going to forget the pattern if it isn't staring them in the face?
All that aside, I still adore Corvettes and would love to have one :)

just noticed that! Yeah, looks stupid. Simple fix for any owner to get a nice MOMO or factory replacment

Hmmm, my 2006 isn't like that. Not sure if it's just the picture or what???
Scott Eaton 7:24PM (6/13/2008)
The "off-center" gear pattern is on 2008 models, too. Not sure when it first showed up.
Eddy Alvarez 7:24PM (6/13/2008)
hmm, i think thats an odd angled pic. my 08 Z06 isn't off center like that either.
LMBVette 11:45PM (6/13/2008)
Mine is the same way, it's just the angle of the picture. From the drivers seat the gear shifter plate (the part with the shift pattern) is angled so the driver can see it.
I like it.

that is gorgeous... the color is SPOT ON for a Z06.

it's the best color on a vette this year, including the ZR1.
the corvette could still look a little meaner.

One of the very best sports car values on the planet.

When did they start covering the dash and upper doors with Leather? That looks great

I don't know when it started (dash leather), but it's part of the pricey LT4 package for the 2008 models, too.
