1960 Jaguar E2A prototype expected to fetch $7 million at Bonhams auction

A few weeks ago we would have baulked at the thought of someone paying $7 million for a car, except that some crazy Brit paid a record $10.8 million for a California Spyder last month. Still, it seems like a lot of money to pay for a car, even for this one-off racing prototype Jaguar E2A that Bonhams will be auctioning off in Monterey this August. Undoubtedly the car's biggest draw is its link between the legendary D-Type race cars that won Le Mans three times and the E-Type production cars. It was also driven competitively by Dan Gurney, Walt Hansgen, Jack Brabham, and Bruce McLaren. While we don't know if this will be enough to demand $7 million, we will be on hand in Monterey to bring you the results, as well as additional coverage of all the events during the Pebble Beach weekend in mid-August.Thanks for the tip, Alex!

7 Millions?
You can buy a Mansion, a Shelby GT 500KR, a Audi R8, a latest lambo, a latest Ferrari, a Corvette, and still have enough money left for your retirement, your kids education and some charity etc., etc., on top of this you can have Bush polish your shoes and Clinton iron your tie.
And if you already have all these, still why the **** would you waste 7MIL on this piece of ***?

You obviously have no clue about automotive culture or the significance of this vehicle in automotive history. This prototype paved the way for one of the most beautiful production cars the world has seen (E-Type), as well as one of the most iconic race cars in motorsport history. To call it a piece of **** is quite ignorant on your part, regardless of how much money it might fetch at auction.

Your a car guy? This car has massive provenience. Raced by some of the biggest names from the golden age of racing is enough, but the fact that it is a one off, and the evolutionary link between the D type which is pure sex, and the E type one of the most iconic cars ever built...
This is not a car as you think of cars, this is like the Mona Lisa, a work of art and history.

This car has an amazing pedigree. The link to the D and E types and four of the most revered names in racing history!
If i had the money for this car i wouldn't hesitate to pick it up. And i can tell you right now my hands would be shaking from the adrenaline and excitement every time my butt touched that seat.
